Fuel tax riots in Paris and France : 80+ injured, violence across the country

bots have been shown to inflame things in the US after things like mass shootings, there's almost certainly bots or agents working this, though they might just be reacting instead of directing.
the people having genuine grievances and genuine malcontent is far more likely than this being a russian ploy
Can we please stop assuming that every movement or political group rowdier than a march where people put Harry Potter quotes on their sign and make ebin Drumpf owns is the work of Russian Chaos Agents™
When in doubt blame Russia
A relative lives on the Champs-Élysées, right at the heart of the riots. She says she can't even open the windows of his apartment anymore because there's so much teargas in the air. The rioters just break shit without distinction, modern and old, they destroy small shops and set fire to private hotels.
The government is trying very hard not to make things escalate, even if it means limiting their own response to this situation.
High schools went on a surprise strike today. That's going to be a lot of battlefronts to manage. If martial law isn't declared by the end of the week, we're going to have an interesting time then.
Okay so this is kinda slightly a great example of what I'm trying to talk about. When people suggest things like this, it shows that their primary goal is preservation of the current order. They would prefer to suppress and disarm discontent with that order rather than see if that discontent reflects real failings..
That's another way fascism can worm its way into a neoliberal system -- its leaders can look at the two factors of freedom and a stable economy, decide that they are now in opposition, and choose to prioritize the second over the first. For example, because apparently the news is conspiring to validate my political views, Macron is reportedly meeting with the National Front (Le Pen's party) this week.
The person you guys are replying to didn't say that this was started by the Russians or a Russian ploy, just that they may be involved. Which is still unproven but it's an important distinction to make. Russian agents didn't create Black Lives Matter or the immigration hysteria of the Republican base, but they did inflame both to influence voters in 2016.
It's the new normal. After 2004 or so, things between Russia and the West have slowly degenerated into us supporting nationalist-liberal groups in their periphery and them supporting the moribund Western far-right and far-left.
This incredibly confuses me because French minimum wage is 3x higher than Estonias and they get pissed over gas prices that are 15 cents more than ours. Wow.
It's about more than that, really. The fuel tax getting raised is the drop that made the bucket spill.
Russian bots have certainly jumped on the bandwagon to make it worse. That part is assured.
Thats just what they do these days on the daily.
