"Which one is the one that matters?" "They all matter"
Yeah, the article is correct in its criticism of AOC's twitter comment, however it didn't do such a great job in criticizing MFA in general. There has been no real proposal yet, because there has not yet been a political environment suitable to passing such legislation. It seems a bit like criticizing a student for not turning in an assignment well before the assignment is due. That being said, it is pretty transparent why Cheeky Nandos (90% sure this is just Tudd anyway) posted this article in the first place. The article does seem to make a legitimate point about AOC's statement and gives him (and Sgman apparently) a criticism to latch onto without having to discuss health care as a broader issue. It's basically the perfect troll article for PD, tbh.
I didn't say it was a hit piece I said the author was being pissy about nothing. he spent most of the article breaking down the math as to how expensive medicare for all could be, how her quote is wrong and how the pentagon gets to use funny math but he is pretty critical of proponents of medicare for all simply because they haven't explained down to a cent how it would be funded, which seems pretty petty given how even when we have a written bill we don't even know how its funding will work to that degree of accuracy.
I feel exactly the same way. Ocasio-Cortez has said a lot of things that I don't really find to be terribly accurate and its incredibly difficult to get her on the record on the actual "hows" of her plans. Namely where the money would come from. So I can definitely see why she catches criticism from all sides, but the right in particular. That said, the attacks against her are just bizarrely over the top. Multiple attacks on her fashion, calling into question her personal finances, it's just fucking weird. She's a 29 year old freshman rep from New York, it's not that big of a deal. Even by the standards of posting you have established recently this is cartoonishly over the top. She made a mistake that I've seen several people on Facepunch make about the Pentagon audit but you are hitting her with vitriol I've never seen you post before.
Bernie's Medicare for all plan saves taxpayer money so the "how are you going to pay for it," line is either out of ignorance or intentional gaslighting.
