Unironically, Boilrig for member. But I know there's no point in arguing why so I'll just vote for him and that'll be all I can do.
STRIKE DOWN THE FALSE PROPHET SEANO12 https://puu.sh/CdEsZ.png https://puu.sh/CdExN.png https://puu.sh/CdEHp.png
Oh god I'm getting moderator election flashbacks
Why is it a lottery?
So that Hezzy can stream it and promote his twitch, obviously
what’s wrong with leaving it at a vote? it’ll be great banter for like a week when boilrig and seano get on the council but then what
Because letting random people who really shouldn't have a position of power of writing policy for polidicks is so funny. /s Really tho it just makes any vote seem way more worthless than it truly is.
Given how toxic people can be when you argue against guns, it can get heated and toxic enough for people to find some reason to do it. I really don't doubt that it could happen.
Am i the only one who want's a neutral mod lol?
Lottery voting is the future, soon real life politics will adapt it, starting with the US as the gamer politicians rise where lootbox-based voting systems overwrite the electoral system in the US.
So your argument is "I don't want anyone who isn't on my side in any controversial issue"
Well it's certainly more entertaining. Can't wait for a group with the least voted people I'm going to make some stats graphs over this.
The more this process goes on, the more ridiculous it gets. That isn't ridiculous in a cute/funny sense either, this is just progressively becoming a worse idea. That is coming from me, a person who was initially in favor of the idea and was mildly excited for the change. So far, we have had: a preliminary round of nominations that consisted of people shotgunning names out by posts and being counted, then arbitrarily selected Posting vs rating was not taken into consideration, so anyone who thought they were voicing opinions via agrees, weren't Final round of voting is limited to only 1 vote per voter, when there are five positions to fill. I really shouldn't have to explain why that is a terrible idea, but why would you restrict someone to only 1/5th of their choices. Lastly, a huge number of people aren't taking this seriously, there are candidates that any moderator who has spent time in the PD section would/should immediately agree as poor choices, and there was clearly no filter on how qualified the nominees are So either, we are going to have a group of people who are doing votes just for the meme (which we only need 20% of voters to do because of the 1 vote per voter rule), or we are going to have a final election where the results don't matter because, in the end, there was intervention about who is/isn't qualified. Or just straight up throw credibility out the window, and allow it to go through as is and have a "council" with people voted in on misrepresentation and neutered powers. Which renders this whole process pointless in the first place.
You're missing: 5. Votes don't even matter as the final winners are selected by random chance:
that and 7. the entire thing is literally an ad for hezzy's twitch channel
No, my argument is that the discourse gets so toxic that someone could be banned. You're trying to misrepresent my point.
It's a silly process, but meme-y/infamous users and posts are like the lifeblood of this section, and to an extent the forums as a whole. Even if there are moments where it can be asinine with certain infamous users, it indirectly keeps some discussions going for better or worse. Even if all 5 seats are attained by meme-y users, I'm sure Hezzy is still going to consider things and actually implement ideas in something productive and that works. And I'm making assumptions here, but I think most users here whatever their political beliefs are can agree on things on how this section can be ran that would be ideal for everyone. I also have a belief if a person attains a position of power like this, they usually adapt a more mature and responsible mindset despite it being possibly out-of-character from their usual posting habits.
So you should be arguing in favor of preventing that discourse entirely, not demanding that someone on the opposite end of your opinion be removed from consideration.
Yeah, I added that in an edit right after I posted, I guess I missed getting it in before your reply though. Also, equally ridiculous, and I'll add it in.
I'm arguing in favour of not having someone I feels contributes to the toxic discourse being able to ban people too. It's not that simple or nearly as malicious as you make it out to be. I don't mind somoene being pro-gun and mod, just not him.
random chance only rewards true skill -sun tzuk
I don't know why you keep trying to strawman my point. It's not like I'm being particularly unclear.
This is one of the few times where I think we have to shoot ourselves in the foot to discover that we've shot ourselves in the foot. You can argue that there's a good chance this will be a complete flop, and I can see why people would make that argument, but we'll never know until we try it out. If it's a complete cock-up, I'm certain that people will make sure to voice their complaints.
Because that's just not how Grenadiac is.
because this wasn't thought through at all lol
He's been pretty toxic to me in past threads and made personal attacks, and I don't think that someone that does that should be on the user council.
Hope people voting for seano don't complain if he does something retarded with his seat. It might be funny now but giving him legitimate say over the sub forum and how it manages is going to be a terrible idea. If you want someone with much more right wing views then at least posters like @Sgman1 and @Joey Skylynx can act mature and take the role seriously even if their political opinions and debating annoy some issues.
I would thank to thank those who nominated me and who have voted for me for your votes of confidence. However I feel that I do not have the time and focus to give this position the attention it would deserve and consequently I would fail to live up to the responsibly invested within me by other users, who I would be disappointing. I would ask that anyone who was planning to vote for me, or who has voted for me already, cast a vote for any of the non-meme candidates. I wish you all a warm and comfortable holiday season.
No offence to seano cos I don't know him well, but it's clear that quite a number of users aren't taking this council seriously because they outright disagree with the idea, or have some other reason, so they might as well nominate 'joke' candidates.
