How about we start a war on American corruption in his name then? He can be the first or second victim.
Oh you mean Kooky James Mattis? It's fine, he was a low level employee wh omostly did PR work
At this point I'm convinced that Trump knows he'll be dead before the end of his term so he's trying to do as much damage as possible.
Bolton didn't want this either, which just makes me terrified. Who wants this? I don't think this is something his supporters are worried about. Even the Tea Party people are pro intervention in the middle east right? Hitting terrorists hard and all that? Who wants this besides Russia and pacifists/non-interventionists who don't make up his base? Troops and their families who want them home for the holidays? On the whole Russia/Trump collusion scale, where one end is Trump is just a convenient idiot and on the other end is a full blown Russian agent, this feels like it moves the needle significantly. The timing, all the Mueller news, walls closing in on him; why wouldn't he use his power as commander in chief to advance Russian interests as much as he can while he still has time?

I'd pay good money to watch Mattis just ripping apart Trump Verbally on live television. The amount of frustration that has been building up in that man.
Saw this posted on another forum's discussion of this: Later, during his April 2014 talk in San Francisco, he was asked specifically about whether there was a scenario in which he may have retired in protest. Mattis allowed some unethical orders and other scenarios that would lead him to do so, but he said, “you have to be very careful about doing that. The lance corporals can’t retire. They’re going. That’s all there is to it.” He added: “You abandon him only under the most dire circumstances, where the message you have to send can be sent no other way. I never confronted that situation.” In Dec. 2018, it looks like he finally did. https://taskandpurpose.com/mattis-resign-protest/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=share&utm_content=tp-share
Well shit, was fun while it lasted. I was vehemently opposed to his frankly absurd requirement for a 80% mission capable rate, he's otherwise been good to us. Been an honor, sir
Muller needs to work faster, now I'm afraid Trump will start a massive war before he gets thrown out.
Pulling out while the region is still very much destabalized is going to cause the same sort of rebound that saw the rise of ISIS. Now we're gonna have a kurd on turkey on syria on iranian milita group free for all with a sprinkiling of russian airdrops. And I assure you ISIS, what's left of it, will take advantage of that srot of chaos.

I know a person who works in the defense industry, they were a huge trump supporter through everything. Now I heard him today going absolutely livid over trump firing Mattis, claiming now "trumps gotta go" and intensely afraid that now trumps going to start a war. From the dude who sells military equipment, is scared that trumps going to start a huge conflict, then you know shits gone really bad.
I can't wait for Trump to announce the US's entry into the War on Christmas as an ally to Christmas, only to be really confused when his cabinet tries to explain to him that Christmas isn't a country.
“Mattis is the last brake on a president that makes major life-and-death decisions by whim without reading, deliberation, or any thought as to consequences and risks,” said a senior U.S. national-security official on Thursday, who spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to talk freely. “The saving grace is that this president has not been tested by a major national-security crisis. But it will come, and when it does, we are fucked.” Source: James Mattis Is Leaving the Trump White House
Maybe he decided to leave after Mueller pretty much sealed the fact that Trump is bound to get shit-canned. "Welp, my work of keeping this monster of an administration from doing something stupid is done."

Not a word from the Trumpets regarding this on Facebook yet, but there's been this: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/132319/c6f00afe-bab8-474a-8769-6d9b502e908b/what the fuck happened to you man.jpg Priorities, I guess.
Godspeed maddog, you magnificent bastard.
does a president have special protections under wartime?

A lot of my military and conservative friends no longer support Trump due to this. We live in interesting times.
Too bad they don't understand how government works. It is dead in the senate, so not much of a win.
"But guys, the Republicans in the House were able to mutter through the dick in their mouths that they're all for the wall! That's a win!"
I thought Mattis was against banning transgender troops? Am I thinking of someone else?
Wait. Last time i checked, Mattis was against the idea of banning Transgender soldiers.
seeing people turn against trump is more frustrating than it is reassuring how could someone not see this coming
This timeline just gets more bizarre month by month.
better late than never i guess. Still fucking dumb that it took this long for them to go "Oh wait this is bad."
Between this (which alienates his military support) and Trump pussy footing around the wall funding (alienating his support from bigots), it seems his GOP support is sort of starting to crack. Alongside this, the Democrats are gaining control of the House, which will stymie Trump's previously unrestricted rule while also having investigatory powers. I'm starting to think we may hopefully be approaching the end game.
Mad Dog 2020.
