UK 'could build new military bases around world after Brexit' - Def Sec

@Boilrig Could you explain why you disagree with this statement?
Trust me, he won't. Even if he responds, he's going to drag you into a pointless 9-10 page argument where he changes his reasoning after every 4-5 posts.
You're asking the biggest spin doctor the forums have left about a consistent world view. In my opinion, you'd have better luck teaching a brick wall to play the trumpet.
In short, many people around the world respected us and our capabilities massively (actually overestimating our military and economic clout) while the British people, because we're a cynical un-patriotic bunch, grossly underestimate how great our country is. The truth being somewhere in the middle, bu more on the cynical side.
I think a lot of you are overstating the pride of the average Brit in regard to global power plays. Half voting to leave the EU doesn't equate to half the country wanting global power projection. There will be lots of different reasons people voted out, but I bet barely any of them are what you consider to be the BoilRig 'restarting the Empire' meme.
The only other option is to have voted Leave just literally to make the UK insignificant though
Well before we decided to shoot ourselves in the foot with the fully automatic anti-material rifle with the sci-fi flip-fed magazine we spent our last penny on we were a strong economoy with a focus on financial
development and trading with direct access to the EEC and single market and a good trading relationship with the commonwealth nations.
Basically the UK was the gateway to financial trade in Europe and we held most of the cards in that regard, we had a few exceptions in EU agreements we could leverage to our favour in that regards and being a core member with the power of veto we had huge sway in the operations of the EU.
At the same time it means we are at least as capable as any of them ergo while we aren't literal kings of the world we are a headline actor on the worlds stage, even if we share the spotlight with other similar nations.
Or we did until the aforementioned curse of sudden and unbelievable stupidity.
UK is pretty relevant overall when it comes to world stuff. But exercises more of soft-power instead of using Hard-power. Which is conquering, taking over countries, expanding territories, using military forces as an expression of power.
So instead of doing the diplomatic route and using trade and commerce as a way to show off its power. Boilrig and other similar types want the "Good ol" fashion way of invading shit and taking over stuff military wise. Which makes me wonder if they even understand geopolitics cause in order to have a sufficient base of Hard-power, you have to have a strong and powerful economy thats based off of soft-power.
The Elders tell of a young Briton much like you. He stood three metres in the air. Then he stood 1.8 metres in the air. Then he stood four metres in the air. Do I make myself clear?
Normally you talk a lot of sense bit this is eighteen karat bollocks and I have no idea why in the fuck you would ever, remotely, believe this is the case. Just sort of gobsmacked you'd type this sentence and not put a single iota of braincells into how self-defeating that phrase, itself, is.
Well we went through two world wars that had lots of allies fight with lots of allies with both lasting for half a decade each.
Doesn't really seem that alliances are super effective if there are other alliances.
That was almost a century ago in a completely different era to our own. You can't compare that with today's connected world.
Easy to say you're thankful that Brexit is going to ruin this country when you're unaffected by it, huh.
his post was sarcastic
Considering the amount of times people replied to Riggy B without complains can't I just get this one?
no
