• Biden sees himself as Democrats' best hope in 2020, allies say

It's all about the projected image. Hillary was an arrogant toerag, and she shot herself in the foot by not even trying to hide it. Biden can put on a smile and he's considered to be wildly different. My mother is essentially a Trump supporter at this point, and she loathes Hillary, but she said she liked Joe Biden because he seemed 'charismatic' and 'friendly enough'.
Biden's record is really not in tune with the modern Democratic Party. His record throughout the 90's and into the 00's will bite his ass, and his weird pattern of ignoring people's personal space won't be a good look in the eyes of woman voters. Honestly, I don't think he'll be as competitive in the primary as he probably thinks he'll be. He'd still be competitive in the general though, but at this point I see any of Beto, Warren, Bernie, or Harris being just as competitive. Especially considering things are likely to only get worse in the next 2 years.
