That's kind of the point though, because it is possible for a single person cause tremendous harm to a nation, power should be more distributed, even at the cost of efficiency.
It would be nice if someone would step into office and executive order things into the right direction, but a position with that power can also go in the opposite direction. We can't always count that the best person for the position making it in. Look at 2016, we got candidates "bad" and "badder". Since Bush after 9/11, and even going back to Clinton, the executive branch has expanded its powers. No single person should have the power to destroy a nation.
Now maybe I'm optimistic, but I believe that most of the damage cause by this presidency will be undone in the coming years and possibly decades, save for maybe a few things like international relations and climate change. After this administration I want our government and specifically our president to have less control over our lives than more.

Feel so completely helpless when reading these threads. I'm sorry rest of the world for our extremely stupid countrymen and the asshats working on ruining our country. Like I've never been exceptionally proud of my Country, but I'm not really sure what we're going to do as a country because all the stupids aren't going anywhere and it seems like there is a massive concentrated effort and ensuring that more stupids will be churned out in the future.
I've read about the Foundations of Geopolitics, probably someone from FP posted about it, and it's just crazy seeing it in effect.
