We have quite a bit of spending on 'entitlement programs' as a percentage of the federal budget, and his idea of cutting it in combination with achieving 4% growth makes some sense since the national debt greatly distorts our politics. This is because it constrains the scope of possible policy and is used by both sides to force policies on a whole. The debt is just yet another source of the 'squeeze' on people fueling polarization. Making our debt sustainable is part of the race to the bottom that makes people feel like their voice in a democracy comes second to the rapid and eternal growth needs of corporations and central government. You wouldn't have 'late stage capitalism' without large state debts, with much-hated neoliberalism having come about from unsustainable spending.
reminder that in bumfuck nowhere, asian subcontinent, the indian government gives $7100 worth of free health insurance to every adult at the age of majority that applies each year. With this, the poor can also apply for free treatment, or treatment at cost if it can't be made free, at any medical college or government hospital. And in spite of that if you cant get your treatment covered, chances are that if you make an appeal, you'll usually have it honored by generous people. As much as I give this country shit, at least they're not complete psychopaths in terms of caring for their population.

I love this freakout we're seeing among the ultra-rich, like the Dell CEO crying about how taxing the rich would be some outlandish proposal. https://youtu.be/WM-DmwQ0TMQ?t=29

He wants to pull enough of those 'moderate' dems as well as indys/centrists that are socially left and will likely vote left in 2020 to spoil the vote. He's not trying to pull fully left people over, he wants those ones that could see themselves voting red or grey to vote for him based on claims of social progressiveness so their votes sink the left's actual nominee and put Trump in for another 4 years.
Those things are entitlements. Has the internet fucked the word entitled so much that people don't know it means "the fact of having a right to something". You are entitled to Social Security and insurance if you've paid into them.
I mean "entitlement" in the same tone that they use "entitlement", which is somehow a "gimme that, it's mine!" twist on the definition.
It's called an entitlement because it's money you're entitled to just for being a citizen regardless of how economically sustainable it is. It's a positive liberty. Whether you paid into it or not is irrelevant, taxes are not consensual.
I fucking hate the insurance industry. You're literally paying for a service you don't need, that will fight tooth and nail to avoid providing their services, charge you more when you use them, or just blacklist you entirely. It's a scam. And in some cases, you're forced into it. The insurance industry should burn. Insurance is a privatized tax.
Well thanks for splitting the Republican vote.
I was wondering what these stupid fucking comics I've been seeing about were referencing. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/273374839358619650/540143966293721089/6uxlpoymijd21.png https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/273374839358619650/540144039115227136/ngelb11xijd21.png
"Open borders" what the fuck Not a single progressive is calling for open borders, Bernie Sanders has called for increased border security I'm fucking sick of right wing gaslighting.
The idea is that if you're against the wall you're against any sort of border security. It's a false dichotomy and it's dumb as hell.
I like Michel Dell, he's one of the few silicon valley giants that's not up his ass about how great they are for making an App, I really want a movie made about him someday, but ya he's your run of the mill rich guy lobbying for less government and funding people to break the government then turning around and saying the government is broken.

So, you want to kill Social Security as a whole?
From a gut feeling, I feel like more prospective Republican voters would side with him rather than Democrats.
I don't know, his stance seems in line with other popular self-proclaimed "centrist" politicians. "Centrist" doesn't even mean anything relative to American politics anyway. Like, the same neoliberal economic stance as the democrats, except with a moderate amount of racism, sexism and homophobia on top to appeal to republicans? I don't really see how that would work.
If you're actively hoarding resources that can help literal millions and insist any reason other than greed or socioopathy, such as your kids needing a three separate villa estates in france for 'therapeutic reasons" it's not a portrayal, you're a greedy cunt or sociopath or both.

Deep tax cuts are also unsustainable, just saying

"Walk in the shoes of the American people" What the hell does that even mean? Is his plan to figure out how we're really struggling down here by becoming president of the US? Because you can do that without being elected, you dense bastard.
If there is one thing coming out of this it's that the US is finally discussing it's shitty two party system
Not to mention the fact that Schultz might dispel the myth that someone can buy their way to being president, since it turns out one must have some appeal in the first place in order to win
