• Pelosi and Democratic Leaders Condemn Omar Statements as Anti-Semitic

I literally said she was claiming that. You literally just spat my post back at me. lobbying groups != the jewish people as a whole Is that so hard to understand?
I think she's dogwhistling pretty hard here, bringing up anti semitic tropes 2 times in 3 weeks is not a mistake by her. She knows what she's doing and she also knows that in her culture, the words Israel and Jew are interchangable. She's being anti semitic.
Dogwhistling to who exactly? There's not exactly a strong antisemitic constituency among democrats. There's a pretty strong anti-isreal government undercurrent among more progressive Dems, and it doesn't seem out of step with that. I also find using her cultural background to characterize her position as an individual somewhat problematic in the same way I see conflating Jews with interest groups and the Israeli government. It's also at odd with her apology: https://twitter.com/IlhanMN/status/1095046561254567937
The worst you can charge Omar with is poor phrasing. She’s very clearly criticizing pro Israel lobbying and her opponents are smearing her as anti Semitic because you’re always smeared as anti Semitic if you criticize the Israeli government. Now the conversation has been changed away from Israeli influence because the goal is always to muddy the waters.
denying climate change is hugely unpopular among all americans but the republicans double down on it because money
There's a strong overlap between antisemites and anti israel people, to many people Israel = Jews and by saying that she is catering to those people. She apologized but she's said this shit before just a few weeks ago and apologized then, how many apologies until it's clear that she's doing it on purpose?
Uh, more like to you Israel = Jews. Stop projecting your beliefs on others, most left leaning people I see despise anti-semitism but also are heavily critical of Israel.
What does this even mean? Does antisemitism matter less when it happens to a individual?
doubleposting I guess but https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfxrGzaz3WE
You first
I had hoped you had abandoned your blind pro-Israel stance. Consider me a fool.
So from what I can tell, if you acknowledge the massive amount of Israeli lobbying in US politics you are perpetuating the myth of the Jewish international conspiracy. Therefore we have a moral obligation not to acknowledge the massive amount of Israeli lobbying in US politics.
its pretty insulting to jewish people that you keep lumping all of them as people who are pro-israel in regards with what was happening lately.
Wasn’t there some news story about Jewish people being called antisemetic for calling out the Israeli government’s wild misbehavior?
So what, you're just never allowed to criticize Israel if you're a politician because it might make antisemitic people agree with you?
It's ok to criticize israel, just don't bring up old anti semitic tropes when referring to Israel, it's really that simple
So you can't imply that Israeli companies are huge political donors or imply that they're probably using that leverage to get military deals like the one they have now (which politicians are trying to make even bigger) of 3.2 fucking billion dollars per year, our largest support package ever? Something's fucky. It isn't (((the big Jew))), it's Israel. Conflating the two is completely disingenuous. Edit: I am a Jewish btw
It's not that simple when people like yourself will rapdily change the goal posts to declare more and more things that are just political disagreements as being "antisemitic".
Thats fair. Which is why its a good thing that I'm not doing that
She was completely right when she said that Israel hypnotized the world, and any outrage over this is just proof. Israel has managed to redirect all criticism toward their government and the atrocities they commit into an attack on the Jewish people. The fact that they can get people on both sides to construe all criticism as "antisemitism" is honestly disgusting and is the whole reason they can get away with the shit they do.
But it’s literally impossible to criticize Israeli lobbying in America, because hacks like you go “oh, you mentioned a jewish state and money? You must think (((the Rothschilds))) control the world.”
As someone of several generations of jewish descent, I'm really uncomfortable with how israel has seemingly weaponized jewish identity.
But what if reality happens to align with some of the features of those tropes? Israel = Jews = bad might be a trope, but that doesn't make Israel immune from doing some bad things. Israel doing bad things doesn't even make Israel bad, but we have to be able to criticize our allies or they'll never improve.
