He refused to sign it until he was told he can still declare an emergency to get his dumb fucking wall. Republicans in Congress don't want him to declare an emergency to build the wall but they're going along with it anyway because they need to placate The Donald, bent over like bitches by a tantruming manbaby. How embarrassing. And if he does declare an emergency, watch the lawsuits go apeshit on multiple jurisdictional levels. Separation of powers, cunt. https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/an-emergency-declaration-by-trump-will-lead-to-lawsuits-lots-of-them/2019/02/14/4aef5828-3098-11e9-8781-763619f12cb4_story.html
I know, and it's still a victory for Trump either way. The border is absolutely impossible to fully protect;it is one of the largest borders on Earth(although nothing compared to the Canada-US border), and the fences have proven entirely futile, so why dedicate any federal funds to it. The initial "Secure Fence Act" from 2006 estimated costs of $6 billion for just 700 miles of the 2000 mile border, and that's just for the shitty fence, so 1.3 billion for a mere 55 miles is absurdly generous, even taking repairs into account. By kneeling to his demands they have now given him the ability to blame the Democrats for "wasting" the $1.3 billion of tax payer money if the wall isn't actually completed, which means he can continue demanding more and more funding for it. This is entirely a lose-lose for the Dems considering that the original shut down was devastating for Trump's admin, and he would presumably be more hesitant this time to actually shut it down again(not that the Dems should have felt any guilt for the potential shutdown anyway).
Not to mention The Wall™ will be cancelled as soon as the next President takes office, and the existing sections probably won't be maintained either.
Hey, something that just hit me. Democrats trying to make Election Day a national holiday was a 'power grab' but declaring a state of emergency because congress won't do as you please isn't, Mitchie? I mean, we already knew you were a spineless fuck but more confirmation is nice.
Trump is gonna win the 2020 election anyway.
If you have a plumbing problem, and your neighbor is telling you one thing, and a plumber is telling you another, which one are you going to listen to? If a plane is having a flight issue, are you going to listen to the guy in seat 23B or are you going to listen to the pilot? So why the FUCK won't Donny boy listen to the BORDER PATROL when they say a wall is unnecessary?
Because Trump never listens to anyone who tells him "no". You just grab 'em by the pussy!
Can you build a wall in four years is the question? Not one that big that's for sure.
I hope we really aren't that dumb but I wouldn't be surprised.
