He could try, the US would have to contend with the sane countries of NATO too.
Oh cool you supported it back for once
The bad news is we have basically have more aircraft carriers than the rest of the world combined, and North America is virtually unassailable by conventional methods.
america has truly gone down the shitter How the fuck do people support this, where are the protests?
When Grenadiac posts like BDA, you know we're all in for a wild ride.
I agree with the general sentiment of this post, but I think you're neglected one crucial piece of information: Trump didn't do all of this on his own. Congressional Republicans could have provided a check on everything the Trump administration has done. They could have intervened in any of these issues. By doing nothing, they are condoning this style of governance. They are condoning these policy decisions. They are condoning open contempt for the Citizens of the United States of America and the constitution that serves as the fabric of our nation. I don't think one can reasonably stand behind the GOP either given that they are complicit in all the Trump administration has wrought.
Sadly this will be denied and added as more ammunition against "fake news". Just like the other instances of him saying something, it making the news and it being deemed "faked to discredit him" because he now says that he never said that.
I'm honestly curious if they're going to martyrize those ranchers, or even see them in a positive light at all since they stopped Emperor Tittybaby from building some small section of wall. So he's opened up a new line of whining when the judges inevitably say "Yeah fuck you buddy", and his base is going to eat it up. All in an attempt to not sound weak/incompetent because he had to declare a national fucking emergency to build a fucking fence. Some folks in this country are oddly selective about what tyranny they will allow. "There are so many Americans living in Canada, folks, that we might as well own the place. Squatting laws, am I right, folks?"
Submarines, dude.

It's the ultimate test of ideological purity, do you side with the land owner against the exactly government tyranny you've been shouting about for decades, or do you side with the tyrant because he is everything else you love except for the part where he's using the implied threat of deadly force to take your ranch away. I'm thinking the ranchers and their neighbors may actually resist, but they won't receive outside help like Mr. Bundy did. The Bundy standoff was a symbolic display of the "Don't Treat On Me" types that live out in the rural South-West. We'll have to see if they come back when the badge and the gun are backed by a Republican instead of a Democrat, but I'm thinking they will. There's a level of "Don't Treat On Me" that transcends party politics and they just want the Federal Government to fuck off and leave them alone.
Hail Donald I, King of Corporate Subdivision 7.
The conservatives in germany supported hitler because they thought they could control him. So history repeats itself
The old establishment GOP is so scared of primary challengers that they wouldn't dare go against the president. Their own propaganda machine and constituency they've assembled has taken over as its own entity and rallied around an insane and inexperienced outsider and they've lost control. Their constant attack on democratic institutions and ideology of party over country has created a monster that they can't stop. They're helpless and in self-preservation mode, and still refuse to acknowledge the insanity they've brought upon their country.
It's not so much they booked it after the war ended as they spent most of the war in jail and learned how to keep their heads down as a result.
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" Whatever happened to this, America?
ya I can't follow the SCOTUS logic on that, the legislative branch should absolutely have the right to veto the president's use of the powers congress gave the office
Exactly. Assassinations and murder isn't going to do anything but divide us further. Because then, the idiots who support him right now will just feel obligated to support said side even more, thinking they were right all along, and you just tried to silence them by taking out their leader. You'll make King Dumbass into a martyr, and give his supporters something to rally behind -- and give the GOP another tool to use to garner support by playing the "oh poor little ol' me" victimization card. Same goes for dumb twats in Congress. Violence might seem like the easiest option, but easiest doesn't mean the best. You leave violence for when there is absolutely no other possible course of action left to be taken.
Greed, corruption, xenophobia, and an entire political party based on just that currently has a Russian puppet as leader of US, abusing his power to build a vanity project based on a lie.
With real state of things not quite being at level with what's claimed (and what everyone assumes to be), people look to easy solutions trying to explain or justify this discrepancy.
Conservatives hated education ever since schools were desegregated.
Submarines a land invasion do not make. Plus carrier battle groups are accompanied by one or more subs themselves. In addition to surface ships equipped to destroy subs. The rest of NATO lacks the logistical backing to do anything strategic across an ocean.
Sure, but how much of the US would support a more than likely illogical, unprovoked invasion and annexation of a country that has thus far been a close partner, economically and strategically? Half of the US military would probably tell Trump to blow it out his ass if he ever gave the order.
America has always followed this in principle, but never in practice. https://media.pri.org/s3fs-public/styles/story_main/public/story/images/looking%20backward.jpg?itok=LZ-5Euwa
Nothing. It was never real. America was always like this, it's just out in the open now.
He will call them "probably Democrats anyway". He's done that before to parts of his base he's screwed over.
As well as all of the Republicans in the FBI who are investigating him, and Mueller himself, who is a Republican.
What other things can he do in a declared state of emergency?
Shut down the internet or indefinitely arrest and detain anyone with no trial
Guys, he can finally lock up Crooked Hillary!!
