• It's Official: Trump Declares National Emergency to Build Border Wall

If he's bonkers enough to do it, he can declare marshal law. At that point, he can (and would) do anything he likes, including, but not limited to, suspending elections.
That's what I fear this is about. Not the wall. The stuff he does while everyone is talking about the wall. Also https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/535441553079431168?s=19
Someone posted earlier in the thread somewhere that "at least he's not going to use emergency funds" Did that change? Is he not going take money from the California wildfire relief funds?
Wasn't his answer to being asked about that to go on a tangent about how Obama raised the debt more, then just reiterate how much he needs to do this and how bad democrats are for not giving him what he wants? Completely avoiding the question? If providing the behavior that prompted the question in the first place? I'm not going to go back and check. I did that earlier to find where he said "I didn't need to do this", and ended up watching the entire speech (I had started watching some time during questions.) And god damn does he ramble on about shit. He really is going senile, he just goes on and on and on and on, only going back to his original point by pure coincidence. Hell, I've had my 97 year old grandma stay on topic better. and of course the quote I was looking for was during the 2nd question, RIGHT before I had started watching
Also they just generally hated it regardless because education makes it harder to build your world view on lies.
Religion and education became mortal enemies the second the right took hold of the evangelicals to win. Religion was heavily intertwined with the progressive movements of the 19th century in many countries and was in the US until the 60s.
I'm curious how THE WALL is gonna go over this. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1811/785b1567-5225-4732-b947-de27ae68acdc/image.png
Joke post, there's clearly no need for a wall here. Has history not yet taught you that it's unwise to say Trump won't stoop so low/be so stupid so as to do X? ...
That's what you think
Oh yeah the underlying idea in general is ridiculous. I wouldn't put it past Trump to give the order, but basically no units would actually go through with it.

I wasn't talking about religion, I was talking about "dey took our jerbs" and the south's civil war mythos.
Yeah I just wanted to explain how the GOP suddenly went against higher education from a religion standpoint
Add another thing to the list of endless stuff Obama was accused to be doing/was gonna do, that was actually done by his Republican successor. Last things on the list: Declaring martial law Subverting emergency funds for his stupid wall I am really struggling not to call all Republican voters 100% moronic clueless imbeciles. I have no such reservations for the politicians though: Fuck you, Trump, the entire GOP and everyone in a position of power even remotely supporting this garbage fire of a Government.
Violence is the best option when it's the last option. Currently there are still options on the table. But they are quickly running out
What annoys me is when I talk to people like my mom, I hear her say stuff like how "he's not racist, he's helped pay for surgeries for black folk and bought homes for homeless" and all sorts of similar shit. But she never brings up actual proof of when and where he did. And even then, it's like she doesn't take into consideration he might just be doing that for good press and because he's an attention whore, and not out of the actual goodness of his heart.
You're aware that there are NATO countries outside the US that are nuclear powers? Land invasion of any NATO member is virtually impossible because of MAD.
Under normal circumstances Congress would've taken care of Trump by now, but since the Republicans are protecting him we're stuck waiting on Mueller and/or anything else that can put a stop to this.
I've been wanting to join the military, but every time i read something about trump i just rather not every time. I would rather not be under this huge fucking dipshit.
That is terrible news. As always, a good luck to the american facepunchers who have to tolerate this guy as their president. I think it's time for another John Wilkes Booth to make his appearance into the U.S political scene, eh?
Killing him will turn him into a martyr, and lower the bar for politics worldwide. Don't like somebody who's in charge? Just kill them. We shouldn't go down that road.
The very worse case scenario of someone assassinating him is sparking a civil war. Which is scary enough with that option is on the list of possible scenarios as it is.
Indeed, I was not being serious my previous comments. That would be terrible, to make him a martyr. Sigh.. impeaching him, or not giving him a second term should do the trick. But then again, I feel bad for the next president, because I am quite sure most of the next president action will be "undoing trump legacy and action".
Welcome to America.
That has been the action of every president since Nixon was elected.
Exactly. And if they're gonna take up arms if someone eighty-sixes his ass, let them. They already had itchy trigger-fingers when it looked like Hillary was going to win (which she in fact did) until the bastard stole his way in with help from an enemy dictatorship, so if that threat is going to constantly be hanging over our heads from now on, I'd rather the point that it inevitably boils over be due to something that actually does them real damage rather than them making the first strike over us simply doing things the right way. And before anyone retorts with "Why is the goal now to deal them damage?", it's because this country is rapidly devolving towards the point where the only way this conflict is going to be "resolved" is with the violent elimination of one of the sides anyway. Republicans are no longer merely "political opponents but we're all still ostensibly on the same side". No, they've very definitively become the enemy. They've already been using threats of violence to try to make us back off for years, even when we're "playing fair". 2016 made that all too clear; when that tangerine asshole already said that he hoped "the Second Amendment people would do something about it" if Hillary won (which - again - she technically did), he gave up any right to decency in return. We cheered when Hitler was killed. No one gets taken aback when someone mentions Putin, Xi, Kim Jong-un, or Duterte getting taken out. I'm not gonna weep if someone decides to turn Trump's head into a red cloud. I started out 2017 willing to give him a chance even despite all he did on the campaign trail. In the two years since, he's blown through all the second, third, fourth, etc. chances I've given him, and that anyone ought to give him. Donald Trump is the enemy and so is anyone who is still on his side. Now, that doesn't mean I'm advocating anyone's death. Do I hope it comes to violence? Of course not, I hope for precisely the opposite. I hope we by some miracle can still resolve this peacefully and get him and all his cronies out of office and into cells without any bloodshed. But if someone decides to finally destroy the defective organism in the Oval Office, I will not mourn its involuntary physical decommissioning.
i thought the same thing, then people started putting children in concentration camps because they're brown and mistreating children
Oddly enough the American right's association with racism predates its religiousity. They began their affair with the neo confederates of the Jim Crow south as part of the infamous southern strategy starting in the 1950s under the advice of Barry Goldwater; the politicizing of religion began with the campaign of the first American president to commit treason while in office, Ronald Reagan, in 1980, converting the GOP into the party of evangelical Christianity.
