A bunch of minors waiting for a school bus is now a counter protest? Jesus christ you're so blinded by the color of a stupid hat even if it's on the head of a stupid child. The image in the OP would have never existed if the old man didn't march up and take advantage of the media's hunger for clickbait. You would be way less gung-ho if the old man just stayed where he was a hundred feet away from the kids waiting for their fucking bus.
The hat is a symbol of his racist, conspiratorial and intolerant language. Its the same as waving a swastika or hammer and sickle. Its a part of the far right's language just like the Great Replacement, 1488 and (((them))). Its a symbol of hate no matter how you slice it.
Tbh I think yeah maybe they do deserve a lawsuit. Maybe not millions of dollars, I'd think a full front page tier story that details how the WaPo was mislead and apologises or whatever, etc, would be good, plus a more reasonable financial compensation. But I don't think it's wrong to say the kid doesn't have grounds to sue because of how retarded this whole thing was. Someone dropped the ball and sensationalised something without the whole picture, that's not okay regardless of what political affiliation it agrees with.
It might.
This thread just shows me our society is cancer fueled by outrage culture and that I should stop giving a fuck about what any of you say. Except for MadLad.
No yeah a lawsuit is definitely appropriate. It was poor journalism leaping at the opportunity for hot MAGA hat content, and not going for all the facts.
Lemme go ahead and sum up how this conversation went so you can understand what happened in this argument, point by point. when did anyone do anything racist counter protesting a civil rights march is pretty obviously racist oh so we should threaten to kill children then? that's how this works in your mind isn't it? you wanna fucking kill children? you dumb motherfucker? fuck off No where in this thread did I endorse any of the backlash this racist cunt received. But please continue to over react.
I don't know if I'd go quite that far concerning it as a universal label for all of those things, but it definitely ranks up there with Crocs in terms of how effectively it serves as an idiot barometer.
You keep just asserting that this is true in response to people asking you to prove that it is true
I mean if you’re just going to stick whatever words in my mouth you think I said to “make your point” then who is going to listen to you lie, and why would they regard you as any different then the very people you so passionately hate? Youre driven by by the same motivations but on the opposite sidebar of the political discourse
This would be a better point to bring up if I at all cared about convincing anyone here that I'm right. I don't, I'm going to voice my opinions fully prepared to accept that everyone here will think I'm an idiot. Pretty much everyone here is an idiot, so it takes a lot of pressure off if you stop trying to stand out. I would like to think because of the specific issues I disagree with MAGA hat wearing cunts. Issues like immigration, border control, religious freedoms, gender equality, etc. Don't get me wrong, I understand your point, I hate some people very much. But I hate them because either they want to take away freedoms from other people, or because the system they support does. I don't give a shit if they're over 18 or not. I don't care if they're white, black, gay, straight, rich or poor. Doesn't matter. If they actually support Trump and his politics, yeah, I'm pretty sure I know how they feel about race, and I don't need to wait for them to confirm my suspicions before I have an opinion about them.
Here I was thinking we judge people based on what we actually know to be true
"No, see, I got a big swastika tattoo ironically!"
Is MAGA equivalent to a swastika?
MAGA is not used, in a way to deny its racist identity. Its not used in a way that removes the term, the image and that stupid fucking hat from the hate and ignorance that it justifies. It doesn't matter whether you, personally, feel that the hat represents fairy dust and equal rights. In the context of a larger western society, just like with the Swastika which mind you has equally an innocuous and non-violent definitions in many civilizations and cultures, it is a symbol of bigotry and racism. It is 100% because Donald Trump has tied it heavily to his ignorant, spiteful language. It was his selling point next to calling Mexians rapists, next to calling muslims bad, next to all of his negative policies that disproportionately affect the poor and minority groups. You can sit there and metaphorically perform your haphazard wrist wringing and pearl clutching and ignore that violent language that is now directly tied to what was DONALD TRUMP'S FUCKING CAMPAIGN SLOGAN. If you believe that Donald Trump is a racist, ignorant bigot, than his main campaign slogan represents that.
It fucking does when you're trying to deduce personal fucking viewpoints based on what they wear.
Then they shouldn't be wearing Donald Trump's Campaign Rally cry, the same cry screamed by literal neo-nazies. If you don't want to be identified by as a fucking idiot, you don't wear clothing announcing it to the world. We're not talking about moderate or legitimate positions and you entirely ignored the rest of my post just to go after this one point.
Nope I'm going to spout my opinions and alter the facts to fit my distorted perception of the world everyone else is an idiot.
The conversation is about what wearing the hat reflects about his own views and you're saying that his own views are irrelevant to that conversation. So of fucking course I responded to it because your entire argument is predicated on this concept that what he actually thinks is irrelevant when we're trying to determine what he fucking thinks
Why would he wear the hat then? If not to fit in with his friends who are wearing the hat to create an in group to isolate others?
Sounds like you need to fucking ask him dude My entire point is that you can't just vomit out whatever you think the answer is and then assume their personal viewpoints based on that conclusion. If you actually understood my argument you wouldn't have asked me to do what I'm arguing against in the first place.
Ya'wanna know something funny? That school that kid went too? Those kids in the video? DO you know what was found out later? That several of the boys in that video were dressed with blackface for Halloween.
I went to school with a girl who tried to kill her parents.
Were you friend with her though?
If being friends with someone means you're responsible for all their actions, then it would follow that friends of friends gain that morality, and so on and so forth, until everyone is responsible for everyone's actions based on this graph. Maybe we should judge people based on their own actions 🤔
No, I'm asking because if we're going the route that you want which is breaking down his ideas. Then you, as well as me, know that you tend to befriend and congregate around like minded individuals and so if some of your friend group is doing blackface and previously your entire group did tomahawk chops at a native American while copying him, whilst wearing a hat tied to a man who openly mocked native Americans to the point of bringing up the Trail of Tears as some sort of sick burn. You might have some racist inclinations. Not full proof, but very likely.
Are you talking about the blackout basketball game?
How do you know he's friends with them?
He identified them as friends during interviews. Considering their colors are Blue and White, not Black and White. I don't think they give a shit about intent. In addition, all of this was towards OvB's comment I wasn't even originally in the conversation about the rest of this.
Uhh, blackout games are a pretty common thing. They're done all around the country regularly.
