because apparently people became "tired of experts telling them what to do" and that something coworker bob or jane found on facebook or somewhere else on the internet is apparently more true than scientifically backed, commonly accepted truth. Then again, back when Ignatz Semmelweis tried to introduce sterile medical practice, he was hounded out of the profession and died poor and in obscurity. Nobody believed shit until Lister proved the efficacy of sterile practice when handling open wounds.
