Yep, that I was maybe thinking of just how they proving my point, that the US government never cares that territory other than showing it's militaristic and imperialistic superiority.
Isn't this ab opinion you've said multiple times? I seem to remember you joking that Canada would be welcoming with open arms a few threads ago, but I might be misremembering
maybe instead of sending "aid" to a country that cant feed its own people, maybe the us should spend that money on its own people
So... Puerto Rico?
Puerto Rico is a territory of the United States. We're responsible for them. That's our own doing. We decided to be responsible for them. So we need to be responsible for them.
oh you guys have misunderstood, im referring to the US sending "aid" to venezuala, i'm fully aware that Puerto Rico is a US territory and they certainly should be sending more aid there, can 100% understand how my message came across like the opposite though
I think I generally agree with this on principle, but I think aid to Venezuela could be a net benefit to the US. Having a government in Venezuela that is more US aligned can facilitate economic cooperation between the two countries. That being said, I am incredibly wary about the Us getting involved in the affairs of other sovereign nations and we really should be doing more to help our own people.
ofc, diplomatic operations in other countries practically are always done to benefit the country that is attempting it. the UK keeps selling arms to the saudis despite their gross human rights violations, the us will invade or force a regime change in venezuala to get oil. but the point that im trying to make is that the us here is quite clearly putting imperialism and racism before the good of their own people. they dont want to take responsability for puerto rico because theyre hispanic. they want venezualean oil because that just increases their power in the world. us nationalism is fucking retarded because it doesnt factor in any other race than the white one.
America First^ ^ Offer not valid in Puerto Rico, Guam, US Virgin Islands, California, other locations as determined spontaneously by the President
exactly, theres always people that are like "why do you hate america so much" but these examples give a perfectly valid reason to despise the us
no they definitely did try. just a few examples: Puerto Rico had it's named changed to Porto Rico and it was called that way up until the 1930s Pubic education was taught almost entirely in english (on paper anyways) up until the late 40s despite puerto ricans speaking spanish. Education was based on an american perspective as well. The growth of the evangelical movement is due entirely to american missionaries coming to the island to convert the majority catholic population The whole concept of american citizenship was partly done to culturally assimilate puerto ricans . American influences are everywhere here. in many ways i do believe puerto ricans did get americanized after more than a century of being part of the US. though it never managed to reach a point where american culture supplanted puerto rican culture entirely.
Well we don't want them darned island Mexicans talking to children about their naughty bits in a foreign language, now do we?
