Trump admin to let pork industry inspect its own product

I don't think Trump is actually a germaphobe, or if he is he's a Soccer Mom germaphobe in that he isn't even fully informed about the alleged problem. I think "I'm a germaphobe" is something he probably said to avoid shaking hands with someone he didn't like once and it worked so he sticks with it.
I've also only heard Trump's supposed germaphobia mentioned in relation to his love of fast food: it was explained that Trump is paranoid about people tampering with his food or spitting in it, so he prefers to go to fast food places because the food is made promptly and the staff doesn't know he's coming so they can't prepare shit in advance. Of course, his vision of how fast food joints work is wrong, too, because those patties might be in the warmer for ages, but I feel like, once again, it's justification for him loving a trash diet of cheeseburgers and Diet Cokes while desperately trying to claim he belongs to the NYC elite.
But on the alleged food-tampering paranoia, I wonder why a nice man like Donald J. Trump would have any reason to worry about chefs gobbing into his food or poisoning it before bringing it out to him, especially somewhere like New York City where he's such a respected man lmao
Trump is the first presidential candidate in history to lose his home state, county, and city
I chose to cut down my consumption of beef and pork massively a few months ago, with the goal of eventually stopping completely. Now all I have to do is move up the timeframe a little, neat.
In addition to being a career asshole, Trump is a poor man's misconception of what a rich man is, so the poor resent him and the elite won't accept him (except as a useful idiot, see everyone sucking up to Trump for a cabinet position to oversee an industry they're a part of). His only appeal is to people who see him as the guy who yelled You're Fired a lot on reality TV and is racist in a way they like.
All because America had the audacity to elect a well-spoken black Democrat last time, and he barely managed to do anything to make the country better thanks to a Republican Congress stonewalling literally everything explicitly to cause this (a Republican President and aggressive expanding Republican control) to happen.
Doesn't he eat his steak well done
Won't have to worry about a diseased slab of beef if you overcook it
I have met so many people who were initially in support of Gary Johnson, but switched to supporting Trump because they thought Gary was too weak on immigration and because he sided with the democrats on anti-discrimination laws. People keep calling Trump the true libertarian hero and I can not understand this.
Sure, he's repealing regulations, but he's somehow only picked the ones that are an actual, valid use of government to overturn. Basic protections against fruad and externalities are literally the staple of a libertarian government and he's throwing it all out.
isn't pork so tightly controlled in the first place because one wrong move and you end up with brain worms?!
Yes. Absolutely.

I accidentally typed porn instead of pork brain worms when looking this up and got a lot of nasty hentai shit rip
Theoretically extremely effective and cheap.
In practice? Enjoy getting fucked by corner-cutting and greed.
Would work if there was an inspection above it merely to publicly shame and run through the mud anyone who doesn't show proper behavior tho. Forced self-control, where if you just have no conscience, something even worse awaits
more like how we get rats in meatbins
Yeah. A lot of this reads as something to help this industry cut corners and increase profits because you can damn well bet they're not going to do it if they don't have to.
I have no idea why any consumer would ever want this, but I know I'll hear someone mindlessly defend this. Why would you not want your meat inspected for E. Coli and Salmonella?
I know this thread is old but I've been hearing from my friends in the US that pork products have been noticeably going down in quality, any feedback on this from other Americans?
Don't forget this one.

I'm so glad pork isn't something my grocery stores import from the US (lots of produce in California, especially during the winter). If I was American I'd be semi-vegetarian right now because the beef and pork industries can't be trusted to regulate themselves. We already figured this out at least once.
That response from the USDA seems a bit more reassuring. I think the article kind of presents the issue in a more sensationalized way than what's really occurring as it leaves out other federal agencies still involved in the process and skews the issue to seem more controversial than it really is.
