Do people still believe the "le wikileaks is russian" meme? Jeez, then why the fuck did they reject his asylum request? Funny how things turn around, everyone being supportive of his actions. But seems that someone likes having the government push a glowing stick into their asses, with all the suicides with rifle bullet to the back of the head while hands are tied Anyways, it's gonna be interesting what will happen, and the reaction
Thanks to wikileaks being selectivly biased in the information they released I think they will take this into account and rule that it was done for an agenda. But i ain't a lawyer so...
I mean, I'm not sure to what extent it's illegal to leak government secrets in the US but if it is then even a legitimate court is going to rule against him, regardless of the results of the leaks he still committed a crime which he will be judged for and in the eyes of the law the ends don't justify the means. It's why for example evidence obtained illegally can't be used in a court even if it proves a crime was committed.
The difference is leaking vs publishing. Assange is press, publishing documents leakers sent to wikileaks. IANAL but i dont think it's possible even in the US to prosecute people for publishing leaks, even if leaking is criminalized. Thats why they're trying to accuse him of conspiracy, basically by accusing him of helping the leaker they're trying to get around freedom of press. It would have been better if wikileaks had published everything, but they'd just been coming off lots of complaints they select their leaks enough to "prevent harm" and it makes sense for them to focus on leaks relevant to an establishment candidate, wikileaks is inherently an anti-establishment source, it's in line with prior actions and hindsight is 20/20. People are very eager to blame assange for trump because they need a scapegoat and "the american people" or even "hillary clinton herself" aren't palatable to them.
Not if it was illegal evidence produced/collected by CIA.
