My favourite part is how the Millennial is being held hostage by the Boomer as he takes the ship where he wants to go.
Yeah, I think that image presents the perfect message that Ben "[BEN GARRISON] [QUOTATION MARKS CONTAINING NICKNAME]" Garrison didn't mean to send: Trump and other old rich people like him tying us up and dragging us away from a potentially bright future, because they think that not only did they deserve to make the rules when they were young adults, they still deserve to make the rules now that we are the young adults. They've held control of this world hostage from our generation, denying us the agency that they were able to enjoy at our age when their doting parents lovingly handed them the keys to the kingdom and an era of blithe prosperity, compared to the cruel reality we've been left with after they wrecked this world. Even as they did so, they think they're better than us.
The generation that raised us, they raised us to be subservient to them. I saw it everywhere in school when I was growing up; this is the garbage they fed us when they were our teachers. We'll never be anything more than "stupid kids" to them, even as the oldest of our generation are now older than their generation was when we were kids. They've defied the natural progression of society and are refusing to pass the torch that all preceding generations willingly passed down to them, expecting us to be subservient to them until they die and then leaving us with a broken world that we'll be too old to enjoy what we manage to rebuild.
Notice how it's not the guy whose labeled but rather the mast? And that the mast holder is also labelled?
Yeah that's right, even Benny boy knows that the reason the USA hasn't fallen over yet is because of millenials
The people who watch Fox News are mostly going to be dead by the time she's old enough to run. Fox News and conservatism as as a whole is fucked as soon as the baby boomers start dropping like flies.
It's really not though. The cartoon sucks, yes, but it's not painting equality as a bad thing, rather as a dangerous empty promise from socialists. That's why it's a siren's song, and why the implication is that it is attractive.
The cartoon sucks (if you have to explain the joke by labelling everything, your joke is bad), the message is bullshit, but the basic symbolism at play is sound and properly used.
My favorite part - not just of this, but of “socialism!!!” as a whole - conservatives always dismiss successful examples of socialist policies (or at least relatively socialist ones) with either “Well that’s not REALLY a socialist country” and “but venezuala / ussr / nazis??”
But they can’t actually point out any policies of people like AOC or Bernie that would turn us into Venezuala or even the “socialist” Nazis or USSR. Rather, most of their policies seem to simply be copying the “not really socialism” countries.
You've already put more thought into this than most Republicans
Not sure what it's like elsewhere in the world but political cartoons like that aren't meant to be funny, they're to satirize a political point.
Putting labels on things is almost the standard for these cartoons.

I'm not putting my hope in generation X. I know a lot of them are just as shit as the baby boomers. I'm putting my hope in millennials and generation Z, which are both far more progressive than the previous generations. It's no coincidence, either: with the rise of the internet around the time the first millennials came of age. They are able to self educate in a way previous generations weren't able to, and they've largely come to the conclusion that everything their parents and their schools taught them was bullshit.
(Excluding the minority of white male millennials that make up the alt-right, of course. They're the chief example of how the internet can lead people down an even worse path. Thank goodness they're only a fringe.)
This is an actual thought that an actual person had...
It bothers me that i try my damnedest to be a decent enough person in a small effort to improve society and this idiot takes the step I try to take forward for humanity a step back.
:c
