Ukraine election: Comedian Zelensky 'wins presidency by landslide'

Ukrainian comedian Volodymyr Zelensky has won a run-off election to become the country's next president by a landslide, exit polls suggest.
The polls give him more than 70% support. He dominated the first round of voting three weeks ago when 39 candidates were on the ticket.
Mr Zelensky challenged incumbent president Petro Poroshenko.
Mr Poroshenko has admitted defeat but told supporters gathered in Kiev that he will not leave politics.
"I will never let you down," Mr Zelensky told supporters on Sunday.
He added: "While I am not formally president yet, as a citizen of Ukraine I can tell all post-Soviet countries: 'Look at us! Everything is possible!'"
I can already imagine the amount of joke pun the opposition could come up with
I hate my country.
He has to be better than Donald Trump. Only way he could be worse is if he is literally a puppet to Putin.
Given that the guy they had in before the overthrow of the regime before was literally a Russian puppet, hopefully they have experience in detecting them.
So, what are their plans? I remember reading something about not liking Russia and "wanting to fight corruption", but nothing more. They are left or right wing? Want to be closer to the EU or stay independent of both blocks? Social, economic measures?
well hoo boy do i have news for you my dude
Please vote I was boobies for UK PM next election and @Curls can be my deputy.
You wanna give us a rundown on this dude? What makes him worse other than being a comedian.
Whoops! Because of First Past the Post, a vocal minority of loudmouth racist shitlords have voted a time-travelling Adolf Hitler into no. 10.
This sounds exactly like that black mirror episode
He is widely believed to be a puppet of Ukrainian oligarch and billionaire Igor Kolomoisky. All of Zelensky's TV shows were exclusively and heavily broadcasted on Kolomoisky's TV channel, especially ahead of the elections. Kolomoisky currently resides in Israel, he left Ukraine after his bank, Privatbank, nearly went bust in 2016 and subsequently got nationalized. Kolomoisky allegedly stole upward of 2 billion dollars from his own bank back then, and now he's planning to get it back. The nationalization of Privatbank has already been ruled illegal after the first round of elections.
Be interesting to see what a new leader does about the Donbass war
Also this comedian, who constantly joked about stupidity of one of our previous president, today he showed a election bulletin with a cross in front of his last name to the press and then asked if he could do it.
When he was told that's not allowed, he answered to the reporters: "I did not show you anything."
It's has as much to do with your country as anywhere else. This is a global state of being and I'm not even sure its point of origin is political. This is the postmodern nightmare we live in.
Some notable bits probably most of you probably missed
Mr Zelensky starred in the long-running satirical drama Servant of the People in which his character accidentally becomes Ukraine's president.
He plays a teacher who is elected after his expletive-laden rant about corruption goes viral on social media.
He ran under a political party with the same name as his show.
With no previous political experience, Mr Zelensky's campaign focused on his difference to the other candidates rather than on any concrete policy ideas.
Basically imagine Chris Rock being elected president because he played the president in Head of State
