Barr: The President can terminate probes if he thinks he was falsely accused

Yeah we're too busy making memes about being depressed to start harrassing senators and attacking special interest groups and then proceeding to be beaten and possibly killed by police and white nationalists.
Us damn millenials, too busy being depressed to start an armed revolt and rather make memes instead.
Trump got so goddamn lucky with managing to finally slip a loyal goon in just in time before the probe finished...
The only reason I don't want that is that the only thing more aborrent to reason and basic human decency than Donald Trump as president is Donald Trump as a martyr.
You're painting the fact that I'm not offline revolting at this very moment as if it's some kind of failure on my part, you're assuming that the people around me are receptive to anything even slightly left of "commercialize the government", and you're assuming that I have the resources to go out and do all this without risking my livelihood. And, as was already pointed out, large parts of the country are just looking for a good excuse to kill people. Several of them outright fetishize running over protesters, and in some states, there have been attempts to legalize it.
I would appreciate if you don't pretend that you know anything about "my mentality", or the goings-on around me. Because you don't.
not voting republican, and putting the past history of the democrats aside and looking at what the DNC of today has to offer.
"I shouldn't have to vote for the lesser of two evils"
Anyone who unironically makes that argument is a child. I shouldn't have to get out of bed early in the morning and go to work at a dead-end job to keep myself alive. I shouldn't have to put up with all the bullshit I put up with from customers just to keep a roof over my head. But that's just how the real world works. If you have the power to vote, you have the responsibility to vote for whichever party will do the least damage to your country, until actual electoral reform can happen. No protest votes, no refusing to vote, all of those things are akin to tantrums.
Oh shoot, I've been doing it wrong this whole time!
Evictus's post was entirely unwarranted, it really just comes off as making assumptions about what others are going through and shaming them for not doing more, like it's supposed to be some kind of epic zinger. Their second post did nothing to lessen that impression.
Besides that, yes, voting correctly is easy to do, but playing by the rules is a weak solution for dealing with people who just bend or outright ignore the rules. Don't take this to mean that I'm saying voting is useless or anything like that, though.
So, does this mean that the president could shut down whatever he wanted, if he so much THINKS its wrong?
Like, say, we think he killed someone, an investigation starts, and he can shut it down?
fucking amazing, the only weakness in need of being plugged is the one to a rifle bullet
But you DO have to deal with the result of the vote.
i recognize that condescension, you're a cigarettes alt aren't you
"if I show that I'm willing to compromise for a candidate I don't support, that'll just show them I'm willing to put up with them as long as the alternative is worse"
This conversation has been had a million times. People won't care until they're forced to, and by that point there'll be nothing left for them to do.
People don't protest because protesting is hard, they don't protest because, in the areas where protest is truly necessary, they're a minority. Most republican states want their president to be immune from the law. They want him to bulldoze checks and balances. They want him to punish left leaning states for disloyalty. They're desperate to be ruled by a dictator, and no protest is going to change their mind.
I think I'm gonna teach my kids to aim as high as possible, for presidency just so they can do whatever the fuck they want, even kill someone, and cease all accusations on the spot if they want.
Then yeah I guess I'll just teach them what's right or wrong and HOPEFULLY they don't become Tru-- who am I kidding, how would they be that bad?
As far as I'm concerned, as long as people don't vote republican, they've done their duty.
Care to share what exactly you do? Why aren't you protesting right now? Why haven't you destroyed the citizens united ruling?
Condescension is right. You're continuously talking to me like you know what I'm doing or what I'm going through, and this entire reply chain started because you basically said to somebody "Sounds like you aren't doing enough about it".
And you continue to paint difficulties as if they're personal shortcomings. Fucking defeatism. Sorry I can't be Batman all the time. Sorry I can't just whip up a gang full of lefties in redneck country ready to march in on (insert public place of interest here).
If it was so easy, it would've been done already. Guess everybody who's already protesting just isn't trying hard enough.
ya the republicans bend or rewrite the rules but if they had no political support at the ballot box, like total electoral meltdown like what happened in the 1930s, then they'd cease to be relevant overnight.
As if risking something or losing everything are the only two options.
This isn't some action movie dude.
Barr is probably why the probe finished when it did.
