She’s right.
And the world will continue to do nothing because politicians will continue to care more about the 'benefits' of a regime that bombs an endless supply of civilians every day. Politicians who also, advocate for wars that cause endless civilians deaths. They give so little a damn that this death was nothing more than a PR disaster for them and they treated it exactly like one. After all; a genocide is perfectly acceptable loss to them.
I honestly would not be against using military force to dismantle the Saudi government and rebuild something more friendly to western AND global interests in its place. It's currently a massively dangerous player on the international stage, and is protected by the United States for economic reasons. They're taking a few too many liberties for my liking. The reason that'd be a terrible idea? SA is the capital of Islam in the same sense as Rome is the capital of Catholicism. The backlash - and violence - would be the same as if SA marched on the Vatican.
We need to have energy independence from SA for politicians to get their heads out of their asses and stop giving money towards the Saudi govt (among other factors).
the US is independent from the saudis, its particularly Trump who's made them immune to any consequences
Wouldn't it be fairer to say it's the capital of Sunni Islam rather than Islam as a whole? I guess Mecca is there though and that applies to both sects IIRC.
That's why I said Islam as Whole. Whether Sunni or Shi'ite, all Muslims are expected to make a pilgrimage there at least once in their lives, circumstances permitting.
The sad thing is, 99.99% likely this would just make things 100x worse
Yeah I mean on one hand, you see some terrible shit going down. On the other hand, it'd just be imperialist garbage that caused horrible shit in the first place in many, many other places.
In practice justice doesn't exist between nations. It's just a numbers game between to opposing forces. Morality doesn't much factor into it.
