Femen members throw water at arch bishop during speech
give me proof about femen suing people
When they "counter-protested" that one anti-gay marriage and they got arrested by the police, they sued a lot of people in the protest because they got kicked a few times (which after proceeding to spraying pressurized water into strollers with babies in them).
femen doesnt act the way they do for the sake being an asshole ( if splashing water on the head figure of an organization that has denied and oppressed your gender & sexual orientation for generations is equal to picketing innocent people's funeral for attention and lawsuit money, then i just lol at you )
Splashing water on the head of someone because you don't like them does sound a lot like just being an asshole. Even if you have good reasons to dislike that person (protip, femen doesn't have a good reason, it's not this one guy who singlehandedly shaped the modern world into what it is), it's still a dick move.
they actually bring awareness, they probably done more for feminism than you'll ever have
The only thing they bring awareness on is that yes, the feminist movement is indeed plagued with absolute wretches of beings who never stop being annoying and who only found one way of protest, and that is be as much of a nuisance as possible.
you're an idiot
Yeah sure okay
This whole debate is all about people like you not understand the concept of respect and respectability. Adopting the same methods, regardless of the practical measures, as the people you are going against just makes you exactly like them. A god damn nine year old is better at counter-protesting than these idiots.

there's a difference between not liking someone and being actually oppressed, i know you dont know shit about being oppressed, but femen are full of people who actually are!!!
that man is head of an organization that compares homosexuality to smoking / cancer, how it'll cause AIDS, and runs his organization to deny same-sex marriage and spreads the thought of bigotry of other, so...protip: they have a good reason!!!!
The only thing they bring awareness on is that yes, the feminist movement is indeed plagued with absolute wretches of beings who never stop being annoying and who only found one way of protest, and that is be as much of a nuisance as possible.
yeah to you, not to others, they're not here to change the mind of people like you who'll always think of them as assholes because all you see are tits and silly women who should have stayed wearing aprons and politely asking for equality
they're here to use shock albeit harmless tactics to get into the news because believe it or not, feminist protests aren't covered in news nowadays!!! but notice how femen always ends up in the first page of facepunch or major mainstream media news when they do something?
if they change one mind or educate one person, then they already created change
if they make someone believe all of feminist movement = femen, then that person is an idiot and can go fuck themselves
Yeah sure okay
im glad you admit it

why do you guys always bring up stupid shit like femen splashing water on an oppressive figure is the same thing as other extremist that pickets innocent's peoples funeral and the boston bombers
do you guys not know what false equivalence is
ITT: People who never finished highschool arguing for 'feminist'
By people I mean...
if you're gonna be calling FEMEN 'rabid bitches' i'm gonna be calling catholic priests 'homophobic child molesters'. although i guess the difference is only one of those is true
We all know the true discussion is, what type of water bottles are those?
well not really because you're not the one being a massive homophobe!!
but you're being ignorant and a bigot
it is never a good thing no matter what side you're on. do you honestly believe good will come out of arguing with an ignorant and bigoted homophobe using ignorance and bigotry? how the fuck does that even work? honestly.
You know who else got lot of attention recently, to fight for his moral cause?
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Does it have good effect?
you might has well mentioned hitler, at least is a classic move lol.

No. You're advocating for hypocrisy and you're proud of it. That's stupid and you have no valid reason for that besides your emotional predisposition to it

Tolerance does not mean being tolerant of that that is intolerant. That is called stupidity.

what
Tolerance does not mean being tolerant of that that is intolerant. That is called stupidity.
You seem to be a professional at solving conflicts.
what
Why should you consider the feelings of people that don't consider others' in the first place?
By "respecting" a bigot's stupid opinions you aren't being "tolerant", you're just turning a blind eye to bigotry. You're not a tolerant person if you respect intolerance.
You seem to be a professional at solving conflicts.
Conflicts aren't solved by saying "oh ok I disagree but I respect your opinion anyways". I mean come on, that's 12 year old logic. Sometimes one side is, in fact, wrong and it should be made clear.
Once again, arguing against ignorance and bigotry with ignorance and bigotry is pointless and stupid.
You're not respecting them if you don't act like a rabid dog when they do, you're simply being the better man.

oh so acting like an asshole when the other guy is being an asshole totally isn't something a 12 year old would do?
remember guys as a rule of thumb for threads like these: if you can't win an argument on your own merits, call the other person a bigot and disregard their opinion entirely! also remember: your rights end where the other persons feelings begin!

one is being actively oppressed, one is actively oppressing or supporting oppression, see how the difference is large???

I never said "be an asshole", I said "don't be afraid of confrontation". Arguments are never settled by being "nice", especially of you are a member of the oppressed party.
Also, please give me examples of "arguing against ignorance and bigotry with ignorance and bigotry" as I haven't seen a single person doing this.

dude we all know how this is going to end, they are going to assault people, and when they are stopped and or assaulted back, they pull a bait and switch then play the victim card.
they are textbook terrorists.
"Terrorism is the systematic use of terror, often violent, especially as a means of coercion."
they are terrorizing these people with specific religious ideals in an attempt to coerce them into changing.
Tolerance does not mean being tolerant of that that is intolerant. That is called stupidity.
Read the argument , your post has no context here to me, maybe I'm reading it wrong. I'm saying to eltro, someone who is saying quite clearly that the best way to deal with igorance, intolerance, and what not is to hand that right back to them and act superior about it.
Sorry, but that's fucking stupid

There are many posts here disparaging people for having a different opinion

oh yes i'm so terrified of their water bottles, just last week i thought i saw someone on the train who had one and we had to call in the national guard. i just don't feel safe anymore with the constant threat of getting my hair damp and have to carry a small paper towel with me at all times just in case

No, I am just saying that this guy is labeling everyone but himself stupid which really shows that he has a really narrow world view. And that is no basis for conflict solving. Plus, his post really has no context as no one said that you should be tolerant to everyone regardless of their opinion.

what is wrong with you people and stupid comparisons, seriously
in the 1 day span of this thread, femen splashing water over a dude whose organization he's the head of been oppressing homosexuals and women has been compared to:
boston bombing
torture
crude oil
picketing funerals of innocent people
did all of you guys have traumatizing history with being splashed with water, jesus fucking christ
or do you dislike women cause you were 'friendzoned' and believe every women loves to claim to being a rape victim on a whim

He didn't call anyone stupid. He said that tolerating intolerance is stupid. You've got a pretty interesting persecution complex there, buddy.
Also, his post is perfectly relevant to this thread since as of late a lot of people have started using this stupid "not tolerating bigots makes you as bad as them" logic. Just read the thread (without ideological blindfold).

no omggrass (and arguably others) just has a traumatizing history with women not liking him

imagine this, you ACTUALLY believe in the bible, and someone walks in and is actively stripping away what you believe to be true, thus condemning you to eternal torture. while i'm not religious i can see how blatantly horrifying that would feel. even if i disagree with what the catholic church is doing/preaching i'm not going to shit on their religion, that is just wrong. also from the previous actions of this group (breaking and entering onto private property, assault and battery, destruction of property, attacking with potential chemical weapons, and disorderly conduct) i feel they should face charges just like everyone else.

imagine this, you ACTUALLY are being oppressed, you ACTUALLY have less rights than common folks, all because a dude believe in the bible and want to force his beliefs over yours, and uses his organization to actively do it

would you have been okay if the blacks burned down churches and physically assaulted average people when they were being oppressed?

if your belief leads you to bigotry and oppression then it's a belief worth removing
okay, here's my experience with the friend-zone. it's when a girl has a fight with her current boyfriend and jumps on the closest nice guy and uses him as an emotional tampon, expecting him to be there for her at all times and never receive anything in return. wait scratch that, she's "entitled" to this guy and he has to buy her dinner/gifts/ect or hes not her "friend". also on a personal note i decided i didn't want to be her "friend" anymore, i told her to fuck off and didn't speak or make eye contact with her again, there are LOTS of other girls. i see this happen to guys all the time though, a girl gets dumped and they parasitically latch onto the nearest nice guy for free emotional/physical goods without having to give anything back in return, and if the guy complains he's a misogynist...

men always talk about looks and the like without any real seriousness. women on the other hand, pull out box cutters and slice away at people with pure zeal and full seriousness. anyone remember the study on aggressiveness and gender? let me break it down. Men only = pretty peaceful, men + women = people being extremely aggressive. however when it's women only there is the same amount of aggressiveness as the group with men AND women. food for thought.

it's a nice experience when a friend grows a fucking spine, tells the girl off and she threatens to claim rape..

what section of feminism are you looking at? it's currently fragmented into multiple factions, the two main faction are for equal gender rights and the other is going for the literal definition of feminism (female superiority).
you cannot look around the internet or in real life without seeing two or more factions of feminism.
the litteral feminists are okay with the gender death ratio as it is today 20 men to 1 women in job related deaths.

This is a REALIST idea. i never said we shouldn't try, i'm just saying all in all as humans we will never fully be happy with the situation at hand and that everyone works for what benifits "me" and "my group". everything is corruptible and someone can easily cloak themselves in the guise of equality for the sake of getting an advantage later. i would like to call this "social momentum", when you are gaining more rights why would you ever want to stop?
this guy is a text book MRA, everyone pack up, we can leave now
You deserve to have you believe stripped away if it's based on a 2000 year old story book.
Of course, freedom of religion is such a stupid idea.
this guy is a text book MRA, everyone pack up, we can leave now
You can keep on packing up, but that doesn't invalidate anything he said, even if he fits your definition of a MRA.
