I don't understand anything you just said.
when was the last time you ever read or heard about feminism and women's issues in the news other than constant rape in country with brown people? especially on facepunch?
Maybe it's just me, but I have a real fucking hard time taking FEMEN seriously in any way, just because how they handle their protests. If they would express their opinions in civilized matter, I and other people might see them in different light.
Just like every other activist group that accomplished their goals by being entirely passive.
So you're ignorant, bigoted, and a hypocrite then?
nope, i'm quite informed about the fundamental flaws of the catholic church, and no i'm not a hypocrite either, if i was against the church being homophobic but was homophobic myself i'd be a hypocrite
when was the last time you ever read or heard about feminism and women's issues in the news other than constant rape in country with brown people? especially on facepunch?
if you're trying to make a point, can you make it already? i already answered your question
nope, i'm quite informed about the fundamental flaws of the catholic church, and no i'm not a hypocrite either, if i was against the church being homophobic but was homophobic myself i'd be a hypocrite

oh please, all of you that ignore that fundamental faults of the catholic church are the ignorant ones. and well, i'm not bothered by bigotry against bigots
Thats called being hypocritical by the way
well, even though some people refuse to even read the article, they draw attention to homophobia and misogyny and considering how almost every protest they perform gets loads of media attention they've achieved this. they're not law makers they can't change the laws
No, they don't draw attention to homophobia and misogyny, they draw attention to themselves, not to their cause. Their cause gets overrun by their extravagant way of protesting about it. They're a living contradiction.
okay guys, i have a question when was the last time you guys honestly ( meaning you guys suddenly dont google right now and bing me an article you never read just to try prove me wrong ) heard about a feminist protest in the news??
When the UofT Women's Rights group decided to pull the fire alarm (a criminal offense mind you) during the middle of a lecture about misandry being organized by the Men's Rights group, and they then proceeded to insult and slander them, which they also did in November, however in November they became violent with police who were present.
doesn't seem like they're being taken very seriously
well that's the fault of the ignorant and privileged who'd rather pretend serious issues don't exist rather than the fault of the activists
Real classy title, OP.
well that's the fault of the ignorant and privileged who'd rather pretend serious issues don't exist rather than the fault of the activists
uh what?
No, they don't draw attention to homophobia and misogyny, they draw attention to themselves, not to their cause. Their cause gets overrun by their extravagant way of protesting about it. They're a living contradiction.
because people like you would rather focus on tits and making misogynistic comments (rabid bitches). i'm sure there are others who take what they say seriously though
Just like every other activist group that accomplished their goals by being entirely passive.
So please can you show me a list of things that Femen has accomplished so far, over their five years of activity? Don't bother with chronology, alphabetical order will suffice.
well that's the fault of the ignorant and privileged who'd rather pretend serious issues don't exist rather than the fault of the activists
i see these events in the news and i laugh because they're so absurd, that's pretty much it whenever i hear someone talk about these events they just talk about how the woman was naked, the discussion never comes to women's rights, personal experience and all that but it doesn't seem like they're being taken seriously and they should probably try something else
if you're trying to make a point, can you make it already? i already answered your question
point is, FEMEN isn't there to be one of the many feminists that can ignored cause media and society could give less shit about them to the point we forget women actually have both economic & social issues to face, or worse: we do know but could give less shit due to apathy FEMEN does things controversial but harmless things so the news actually fucking picks it up and run it which in turn people read why FEMEN is doing it, learning their motives, and get reminded that women are still facing problem some people actually think sexism is over!!!
So please can you show me a list of things that Femen has accomplished so far, over their five years of activity? Don't bother with chronology, alphabetical order will suffice.
FEMEN are not law makers or policy makers within the church, they obviously can't change laws or policy. they protest to bring attention which they have done with every protest why else would people post every news article about them?
because people like you would rather focus on tits and making misogynistic comments (rabid bitches). i'm sure there are others who take what they say seriously though
If a group of naked dudes dashed into GOP convention and started squirting water at people, I wouldn't hesitate with calling them rabid fuckers or whatever would be close to rabid bitches.
because people like you would rather focus on tits and making misogynistic comments (rabid bitches). i'm sure there are others who take what they say seriously though
That's a pretty harsh judgement. I'm pretty open minded guy, but even I can't really make up what FEMEN is about, because the media attention they get usually is 80% about what they did and how they did it and 20% about why they did it.
i see these events in the news and i laugh because they're so absurd, that's pretty much it whenever i hear someone talk about these events they just talk about how the woman was naked, the discussion never comes to women's rights, personal experience and all that but it doesn't seem like they're being taken seriously and they should probably try something else
again, if you're willing to just laugh about a serious issue and think 'hehehe titties what silly women' then that's your problem
FEMEN is probably the most obnoxious protest group out there. If they were more civilized then they might be able to get their point across, but that's never going to happen.
'Assault According to the standard definition, assault means inflicting bodily injury on another person with intent. Where possible, the figures exclude : - assault leading to death - threats - only causing pain - slapping/punching - sexual assault. ' according to a pdf on european law i found on google
I'm not sure how EU law works for this (or even which country this was since the article doesn't say), but I know in the US that this would be considered "simple assault".
FEMEN is probably the most obnoxious protest group out there. If they were more civilized then they might be able to get their point across, but that's never going to happen.
But spraying people having a peaceful (albeit bigoted) protest with "Jesus semen" gets their point across so nicely!
If a group of naked dudes dashed into GOP convention and started squirting water at people, I wouldn't hesitate with calling them rabid fuckers or whatever would be close to rabid bitches.
oh yes i'm sure if that was happening people would focus on dicks and making homophobic comments
FEMEN are not law makers or policy makers within the church, they obviously can't change laws or policy. they protest to bring attention which they have done with every protest why else would people post every news article about them?
You know who else got lot of attention recently, to fight for his moral cause? Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Does it have good effect?
I'm not sure how EU law works for this (or even which country this was since the article doesn't say), but I know in the US that this would be considered "simple assault".
brussels, belgium. i looked it up and there has to be intent to harm for it to be considered assault in the EU
again, if you're willing to just laugh about a serious issue and think 'hehehe titties what silly women' then that's your problem
not really, if the message isn't getting across then they need to try something else people aren't going to stop being ignorant simply because you want them to
You know who else got lot of attention recently, to fight for his moral cause? Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Does it have good effect?
yeah nice comparing splashing water on someone in the name of equal rights for gays and women to someone blowing up random people and shooting cops in the name of religious fanaticism, totally makes sense
so having water splashed on you is now considered physical assault?
I'm almost a hundred percent sure that if you threw water at a womans chest, you would have a field day yelling at that person for their sexist assault
That's a pretty harsh judgement. I'm pretty open minded guy, but even I can't really make up what FEMEN is about, because the media attention they get usually is 80% about what they did and how they did it and 20% about why they did it.
how the fuck do you miss their message
Archbishop Andre-Joseph Leonard was drenched in water after members of women's rights movement Femen protested against homophobia in the Catholic church. Leonard was caught by surprise when the women rushed in, wearing just jeans and boots and no shirts. Shouting slogans against homophobia and accusing the church of hypocrisy the protesters were quickly removed from the room.
it says it right there, along with other times news actually state why they did it, dont blame it on FEMEN cause all you see is tits and women being stupid cause you don't want to read.
You know who else got lot of attention recently, to fight for his moral cause? Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Does it have good effect?
did you just compare women throwing water at a dude to a terrorist that murdered and maimed human beings with bombs really did you guys know just because privileged white dudes who haven't faced problems like women have and you find them funny rabid bitches, others won't??
not really, if the message isn't getting across then they need to try something else people aren't going to stop being ignorant simply because you want them to
no point in asking bigots politely to stop being bigots, because if they were polite and decent people they wouldn't be bigots
So please can you show me a list of things that Femen has accomplished so far, over their five years of activity? Don't bother with chronology, alphabetical order will suffice.
They have successfully brought attention to women's issues in Europe, particularly Ukraine, where women are vastly underrepresented.
You know who else got lot of attention recently, to fight for his moral cause? Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Does it have good effect?
False analogy.
