I don't think anyone would take that over having one consolidated streaming service.

That will happen either way though. Video services want to keep bandwidth to a minimum (since bandwidth costs a lot of money) so they will be interested in that sort of thing either way.
I scoured the list, couldn't find Stargate. This means... this means I'm safe, right?
Only SGU is up for streaming, none of the other series. They stopped it about a year or so ago.
One thing about this LAN streaming shit is that not everyone is tech-savvy enough to know that you don't need netflix to be able to watch shit on your iPad or something.
Hell, I don't even think I am tech-savvy enough to do it, despite being a bit more computer-literate than an average dude.
i mean shit what do these hieroglyphics mean
For me, it was pretty straightforward. Set up an FTP server, forward the ports, use ES File Explorer on my Nexus 7, and MX player, and I have video streaming from anywhere with an internet connection. I was surprised with how well it worked, since you can seek and everything.
Only downside is that I'm limited to my cable's 5 Mbps upload, and Netflix scales the video quality depending on how much bandwidth you have. Which is very important if I use Verizon's 3G, which is absolute garbage for video streaming. Not really possible with my method. Works great with 4G and Wifi though.
It seems it'd mostly effect shows from vh1 mtv and nick. Not much of a blow to me then, hopefully the when this actually happens and the shows are removed it's none of what i watch closely.
So I have to watch the entirety of IZ in like a week now
Its not impossible but dangit why
