Well gee, no shit its chemistry isn't well known, you pretty much banned research on it. [editline]23rd July 2011[/editline] Fuck joints, use a vaporizer.
Would love to see a source for "they pretty much banned research"

[editline]23rd July 2011[/editline] Granted, that was 2001. But still, two decades is a long time to go without research
Meanwhile, amphetamines are widely distributed to school children to combat "ADHD"
fuck this shit i don't even know why i read the thread this just makes me fucking rage. Fuck you government!

So what you are saying is that there has been 10 years of allowed research now, thats hardly banned? Fuck you government!
You do realise, that the evidence currently as to whether or not cannabis is effective for certain things is severely limited and contradictory right? Its hardly them going "hurr durr we hate drugs", its them going "there isnt good enough research as to whether or not this helps people, so no not now"
Then they should fund research.
Then they should fund research.
Who? The people who made this decision? That certainly isnt their purpose The government shouldnt either, because why cannabis, why not something else? There are probably a lot of drugs which are promising, but it isnt their responsibility to investigate all of them, especially when they are already short of money. Yes, its a tragedy that many potentially good drugs are missed because of the big pharma companies, but unless someone wants to set up a large monetary fund to finance this sort of thing, its impractical. I dont see how you think thats a reasonable solution just because you, and 95% of the people on this forum want cannabis to be good for you. What you, and everyone else should be waiting for is the accumulation of studies and such to get to the point where several, large, critical reviews can be done of all of the available evidence, and for it to show a strong benefit (or mild for diseases with no other treatment) in favour of cannabis. Currently, there is no strong compelling evidence either way.

The evidence is quite there, you're just not looking for it.

I invite you to look here http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1106966-If-you-are-still-unsure-about-Cannabis-this-will-finally-clear-it-all-up-for-you...-With-Science!?p=31141540&highlight=#post31141540 and here http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1106966-If-you-are-still-unsure-about-Cannabis-this-will-finally-clear-it-all-up-for-you...-With-Science!?p=31142772&highlight=#post31142772 I definitely have had a look at the evidence, and you clearly havent. There are dozens of patient success stories for everything ranging from operations under saline water on conscious patients, reductions in gastric convulsions when you give people crap to make it worse, and homoeopathy. Please dont tell me homoeopathy works because there are dozens of success stories. Anecdotal evidence is useful for spotting when there might be a relationship between this and that, but you absolutely cant use it as solid proof. I agree, it should be researched, and then a proper conclusion should be reached. But i think its very difficult for the government to justify researching something like cannabis, rather than some other form of life saving drug, especially with the status that it has.
