What? The metallic hydrogen is around 78% last time I read it.
75%
Jovians.
Still, those poor Jovians. Jamaicans. Space Mexicans.
78% of radius. Not necessarily 78% mass.
*Waits till one day Jupiter ignites*

That tiny dot is probably the size of our planet.
This picture really scares me.
This reminds me of one April Fools Day when a radio news caster was going on about Saturn exploding and the explosion was heading Earth's way. Half the town was flipping shit and school was utter chaos :pcgaming:

And this is why I want to move to southern America and radio news cast for a while. If you did it anywhere else everyone would be "eh, no".
We should be glad - Jupiter is pretty much the Inner Planet's fat bodyguard ... circling around us all the time, jumping in front of bullets.
o fuk 2012 jupiter wil crash into us oh fuck oh fuck we're gonna be poor
How is this funny?
Did the comet ask jupiter if it could hit it? Jupiter is a beautiful woman who protected us for so long.
[sp]Jupiter is a rock[/sp]
Also Jupiter has a core made of diamond because of all the carbon that sank to the bottom and was compressed by all of the gases and metallic hydrogen above.
Jupiter is a rock
Jupiter is a gas planet.
Jupiter is a gas planet.
Gas Giant, actually.
How is this funny?
You'll Figure It Out
Also Jupiter has a core made of diamond because of all the carbon that sank to the bottom and was compressed by all of the gases and metallic hydrogen above.
What? Jupiter infact has very little carbon.
Gas giants don't take shit from comets.
THEY EAT THEM. >:(
shoot a nuke at jupiter so we can tan all night long
You're on Facepunch, somebody always gives a shit.
I highly doubt the object that hit Jupiter was even close to being the size of Earth, with the scarring on Jupiter, we can say it was big, but not that big.
Plus we would know if an earth sized object was about to hit Jupiter.
Resized for comparison.

For yet another comparison, here is the aftermath of Shoemaker-Levy.

These comparison photos you guys are using are kind of screwy, they're actually making Jupiter look a bit small.

"My God, It's full of stars!"
It was obviously a weather balloon.
Meh.. Too bad they cant see if it is a ufo. :O
I wonder how many times earth would get hit if it was the size of Jupiter... well in 2028 or around there it would get hit by that huge asteroid that's going to pass by very close if it were as large as Jupiter
No big deal to me really, just look at our moon, and it's small as all hell compared to jupiter, it gets hit tons

We "get hit tons", too.
Just small rocks, however which burn up in the atmosphere.

This scares me a lot more. Sol is our sun by the way.
