Not really, news, since this isn't really news. But still pretty nice.
I await the day when some eccentric billionaire buys this plane and restores it back to it's former glory. :ussr:
If I remember correctly, the Russian military ordered a new version from the Alexeev Bureau. Not many details on it though. http://defensewarnewsupdates.blogspot.com/2010/08/dtn-news-russia-revives-caspian-sea.html

I love this sexy beast!
I say the Russian government restores the plane and moves it to a museum. It would rack up international tourism.

Actually, I've never played any MGS games. :frown:
The fuck is that, and how does it work?
It's another Ekranoplan, with it's control surfaces (wings, etc.) removed. http://www.testpilot.ru/russia/bartini/vva/vva_e.htm

It's not a plane, it flies like 15 feet off the water. It's basically a flying boat that can't fly properly.
I love the words "Freaked out the CIA"

HURR I WAS PLANE. In all seriousness it breaks my heart to see these gorgeous, amazing planes, built, getting them all ready to fly, and then have them waste away in a field... Atleast they could recycle them into scrap and sell it.
