no sympathy whatsoever? i mean yeah i don't blame the DJs for the suicide either but you don't feel even a little sorry for a woman who killed herself after being made a fool of internationally?

whats wrong with you honestly
Yeah, what the fuck is up today, Facepunch?
This dead "bitch" left behind two children that now has no mother. She got humiliated in public, and most likely already got mental problems. I agree, it's wrong to blame the prank callers. But this woman is now dead.
You guys are unbelievable.

And over a prank call? It's kind of selfish.

According to some posts in here she on pills and pretty unstable. Add the humiliation by media and her colleagues and it may drive a person like her into suicide.
Selfish? Yeah probably.
Calling her a bitch and having no sympathies for her? Nah, I can't.
I feel quite bad about her committing suicide and all the public humiliation that went with the whole incident. She did break patient confidentiality and should've been punished but the whole thing going public was just terrible. It is easy to say you don't feel anything for the bitch, but she obviously had mental issues so who knows what might have pushed her over the edge. Plus the same mental issues might have led her to place the entire blame on the callers.
I am not blaming the callers in any way though. It was supposed to be a harmless prank and it did show how easy it is to obtain confidential information.

Last I heard her colleagues supported her and it didn't really last long in the papers until she killed herself.

Suicide is always selfish, so? It's not like you go "Ah fuck, I'm killing myself, have fun without me fuckers!". When you're so low down that you don't wanna live and is even actively trying to end it, that's bad. She's probably been thinking about suicide for a long time and probably didn't do it because she couldn't leave her kids behind, but what you have to realise is that this pain was so big that it overcame the love for her children. That's really fucking painful.
If you've never been there you'll have a hard time understanding it, but don't be ignorant, think about it.

Perhaps the call intervened with something very important to her or something? We need context. For all we know, the reason why she answered the phone was because she was sitting there biting her nails in worry over a suicidal friend who was gonna call or something, and because of this she didn't get the call?

That's exactly what it is. Suicide is cowardess. It's the easy solution to every problem

My mother has been borderline nuts for the past 5 years and she constantly brings up how guilty we'll feel when she dies as if its something she plans on accomplishing, she hasn't done it yet because she has two children to take care of and a job to commit to. Suicide is cheap and an awful way to deal with anything because it just puts your weight on other peoples shoulders. And ofcourse I've been there before, many people have, I could go on about how I have been bullied since the age of 7 and "waah ive had a hard life" but its pretty much fact that almost everyone goes through a hard life, she was just too feeble to deal with it. I'm not ignorant.
Guys she was harassed by the British media and called a traitor to the country amongst other things

Good, then you realise how messed up you gotta be to commit suicide and it's not the persons fault.

Uhm, why?
You can be embarrassed over something like this, but killing yourself over it?
Suicide is bad, but this is an overreaction. I'm pretty sure the radio hosts can't be blamed and she had something going on before this.
Aside from her being irresponsible for doing this, I have another reason to call this woman a dead "bitch."
In her final act of life, she put the blame for her death in the eyes of many on 2 people who have done far less than others have who have been put in positions like this. To me, that is just unnecessary and cruel. How would you feel if someone blamed you for their suicide?
but she's pretty obviously mentally ill? she was not in her right mind when she made the decision to kill herself
How would you feel if someone blamed you for their suicide?
Good point. Personally I'd be really pissed.
There are some users on Facepunch that sometimes pulls this "I'm going to suicide, unless you unban me"(which i really hate) and our policy is just to permaban them... maybe not exactly comparable.
This is ridiculous.
At the end of the day it was her who killed herself, thus she is the only one responsible for this tragedy.
Like, she could have alternatively jumped on a plane and disappeared elsewhere and started a new life - it's not like she had done anything particularly heinous in the first place - I doubt many people would care.

You should unban them and put a title on them which everyone except them can see that says "Suibanned" and everybody is supposed bully them untill they're gone.
It's funny how everyone's turning on the two radio hosts now, but who at the time of the prank that was listening to it honestly thought "this is wrong, what they are doing is wrong"
It's like the time the Chaser pretended to be with the Canadian government, and nearly got Chas dressed as Osama Bin Laden into a hotel where many world leaders were staying. They intended to do it as a joke, and thought they'd be stopped, but they ended up getting waved through and made it all the way. Stirred up so much controversy, but really they just got in too deep. I'm thinking something similar happened here, they wouldn't have expected it to actually work.
The prank call is to blame if there were no problems with her beforehand. Still an overreaction but she was just a nurse that ends up all over the papers for a trivial mistake some took great pleasure in ramping up a few levels (I'm looking at you Daily Mail!).
Still can't see any other report on this. Would have thought that the BBC would have something, so I'm not sure how genuine this story is.

don't you call the police or is that just the joke of it all?

In fairness, what appears like an overreaction to us might have been all an already suicidal person needs to go through with it. She's certainly not in the right to be blaming the DJs and I think that's a fairly despicable action to go out on, but I feel sympathy for her and the events that brought her so low that suicide was the only way out. Remember, suicide is a selfish act by its very nature, and someone who's suicidal is probably not thinking as rationally as you and I are. I mean hell, I've gotten really low in the past, to the point of starting to think about suicide and what its consequences would be, but I've never felt that pure, utter despair to actually go through with the act. I can't even imagine how it feels.
The problem is the entire lack of context about what happened directly after the call.
In one of the articles, it stated that she, a nurse, answered the call instead of a receptionist. She essentially broke patient confidentiality and did not even inquire at who was calling.
Consider if her boss found out and gave her hell for it, or if she was publicly humiliated for putting the prank call through; she would have every reason (in her own mind) to commit suicide, especially after several previous attempts.
The problem is, we don't know what was happening in her life just before and after the call.
How? She wasn't the one who got pranked, she simply transferred the call to the nurse who was.

that's what i was referring too :v:
Embarrassing yourself in front of the Royal Family is probably a huge deal to some.

First of all, mental illnesses such as depression don't just develop in an instant over something as trivial as a prank call. It was the icing on the cake but hardly the entire cake itself.
Second, judging from your MASSIVE lack of understanding on the subject I am having a really hard time to believe that you've actually suffered from depression yourself.
People don't commit suicide because "hurp durp i got all these problems and im too lazy to straighten them out, better kill myself". People commit suicide because they're stuck in their own personal version of hell and they'll do anything to just make the suffering go away.
They're not thinking straight, hence "mentally ill".
Queen would have executed her anyway
I'm not going to go as far as to call the nurse a bitch. I find what she did uncalled for but its unfair to say anyone whos so bad in the head that they've committed suicide is a bitch, but god damn do I feel bad for those radio hosts.
For the first few days of this news story, they were labelled as the bad guys. They lost their jobs and you could see in the interview they were completely broken by it. They obviously felt the guilt by this and couldn't even help themselves from crying, and now its released that the nurse personally blames them in their suicide note?
Damn I feel bad for them..
Seems like she is just placing the blame of her problems onto something easy.
I wouldn't call her a bitch if she didn't ask them to pay the mortgage, but the fact that she was trying to ruin their careers AND get money out of them is disgusting in my opinion. I'd feel the same way if she was alive, and that isn't going to change because she is dead.

You clearly don't understand how mental illness works. The fact that you've been bullied and had a somewhat difficult life at times does not make you qualified to speak out on depression, you have no idea what the woman went through before this all happened, and some people can't take as much as others before they spiral into mental illness.
Sure, it's not nice of her to blame the radio hosts, but that doesn't mean suicide is an easy solution out, it's not easy for someone to commit suicide.
Someone was waiting to commit suicide and a prank call from two radio hosts pushed her over the edge. What does facepunch say? "What a fucking bitch." Wow.

If I was suicidal and you called me a cunt and I killed myself because of it, would you think I wasn't being a bitch if I blamed you in my suicide note and expected you to pay my mortgage?
