That's one classic game for the dozens of dozens of terrible games coming out each year. You'll need better examples than that.
i haven't played a truly terrible game for a very long time. i think you have too much time and money if you do.
Buy me now for $100 and I'll show my bust for free!
Gameplay wise Modern Warfare is okay, I never said anything against it. It's a dumb, straight forward shooter, okay.
But it's still a downright shitty game story-wise, with an unoriginal background, no originality whatsoever and with so much stereotypes it just hurts.
Stop thinking I'm talking about the games' coding quality, I'm talking about what they're made of, the story, background, characters, etc.
i don't even know what you are talking about anymore, games have definitely become better in story, background???, and character development.
most of that in doom revolves around "FUCK DEMONS" and it hasn't actually changed that much till recently.
Background = everything that makes the game apart from the gameplay.
Pretty much like Bioshock or Deus Ex.

I gotta agree, with today's technology games have become very immersive, but so were the good games of the 90's and early 00's. As previous mentioned Half-Life or Silent Hill 2 were very rich in story, gameplay, characters, and puzzles. If anything we can all agree on the fact that in Infinity Ward's case, if it sells why stop making it? If the games were that shitty then there obviously wouldn't be such a demand for them. I must say though they will most likely fall in the category of "forgotten games of yesterday" in decades to come, while the more significant and landmark games will remain in the light. Same applies to music, television, or movies. Gone with the wind is popular, but if you ask most people if they've seen Plan 9 from outer space you'll most likely get a "What?"
Were you sure it was authentic one with a certificate ? 'cause yeah, it's easy to pick a piece of broken apart concrete and paint it with shit to claim it a berlin wall piece.
The technique is getting better, the quality is going down.
It's not because technically games nowadays are more stable (which tends to be less and less true since devs have less time to perfect their title and end up with bugs-filled games) that they necessarily have new elements, originality, a better story, better characters, etc.
The problem is that the three simplified causes of this loss of quality are linked and pretty much the consequence of the other - it's a vicious circle.
Developers have much less time to make their game -> They're putting less effort into it -> People still buy it at full price -> Publishers have no reason to give more time to their devs and still give them less time than usual -> etc.
As long as people will keep buying the games full priced shit will keep going down until we touch the bottom. It needs to stop.
Yeah it came with a certificate..
And thing is, I don't think you know how big the Berlin Wall was..
A wall with tags on it on one side.

This is my favorite collectors edition I own, simply because of the record and the amazing art book.
I got that new for £20, £5 less than the game alone.
yeah but most people would just play the game and find it shit because games have evolved.
that's not activision's fault just as it isn't 20th century fox's fault that people don't find black and white films as attractive as colour films.
I don't think this is true at all, there are still good games being released. People wouldn't find a game shit due to games evolving, they could on the other hand find a particular series shit because it stagnated.
I got that new for £20, £5 less than the game alone.
25£ is still incredibly low priced considering in France we pay PC games 50€ and console games 70€.
Wasn't CoD XP a few weaks back? I know that the Machinima guys were at some event like that.

Black and White isn't considered shit, just outdated and why would anyone use it if colour is cheaper by now, except of course for style like Sin City. I don't care if a classic TV show is in color or b/w.
CoD XP was a few weeks back indeed, and it feel weird to me.
I mean a gaming show dedicated to a single game with irrelevant things like the NBA, several bands and even the army ? Okay the game's about the military and shit but isn't inviting the american army and even giving them a part of the money made out of the event a bit too much ?
Almost feels like propaganda to me.

Bought that for £20 and holy rear-enders it was brilliant.
The art book was suprisingly awesome and has even been useful.
But more on topic, I bet that "field journal" will contain traces from images readily available on the internet.

German Amazon had it up for 10 € for one day, snatched it an hour before it dissapeared from the store.
Fallout 3 had one of the best artbook for me. Each part of it came with an explanation on how they came up with the ideas, why x or y thing was scrapped out of the game, etc.
Along with the making of, it's probably the best goodie I ever had so far with a collector's edition (though the sandwich box and the freaking bobblehead are still awesome)
oh and EP3 is fake. it is HL3 now.
I'm not sure where you heard that from, but everywhere I look I hear people say "Episode 3", not "Half-Life 3". I think even Gabe mentioned it a couple of times as "an episode", and not a whole game.
Off-topic: The amount of time Valve is taking to make this game, I can say that it's probably going to be one of the top games of all time. I say give 'em all the time they need. Those bastards are always late with their games, but make up for it in quality.

Vinyl is BS1 Soundtrack with a number on each, CD is BS2 soudntrack.
I dunno. people just seem to pick on it.
I find cod fun to play with friends. Ain't the most innovative game ever, but in this day and age, not many games are.
Later CODs are pretty much mindless entertainement, if you play the multiplayer and turn your brain off you will have some fun but eh I don't know if it's worth the massive price + how they are coming up with a new one every year.
I don't see whats so fun about CoD style gameplay.
Can you please tell me whats fun about it
It's a plain simple game that requires no thought at all.
The problem is a lot of people act like it's compicated while it's not and other games do it much, much better (serious sam anyone ?)

Its either going to keep the name(yes NAME) of Episode 3 and be a full game or it could be a full game with the name Half Life 3.
I would prefer it being called Episode 3 since Half Life 1 to Half Life 2 had a huge leap in time and I don't want Half Life 3 to start at the ending of HL2:EP2
Well I'm getting this game, and I'm going to enjoy it. Suck my massive, funloving dick.

Serious Sam is a good example of fun mindless shooting IMO
but those games are different since CoD is a game set in the real world.
and I do believe Serious Sam doesn't have Man Vs Man team based competitive multiplayer(If there is.....ummmmmmmm I can't really say much since I have't played that.I played the campaign though. Was fun)

Tell me Mr.ILikeCoD could you tell me why its fun to you.
Personally I don't find it very fun.Killstreaks feels cheap and getting kills doesn't really give me any feeling of satisfaction
you all fucking agree with each other about how bad MW3 is anyway
But I like seeing all these past collector editions being posted :v:
hahah install.
like i was gonna waste hard-drive space by installing doom.
You have to be kidding me?
Was your hard drive really that small at the time?
I mean, I know DOS takes up nearly no space but damn!
I don't see whats so fun about CoD style gameplay.
Can you please tell me whats fun about it
CoD style gameplay is simply the classic "Take these autoshotguns and rape everything in your sight", similar to Counter-Strike. I don't have a problem with that, and I don't think other people do either - a game is a game. The problem is that Activision releases extremely similar games every year and sells each like it's brand new.

They donated 100% of the proceeds to a program that gives returning veterans a job. The army people that were there were veterans that were paid to work there because finding work in America right now is really hard. I don't care what you think about CoD or Activsion, you can't say that isn't a good thing to do for people.
Indeed but then why inviting the army in the event ? They can give the money to the said program without having the military present and running a part of the show.
[editline]18th September 2011[/editline]
Call of Duty is a game where you kill people for shits and giggles, the army shouldn't be glorified in that.
