Honestly it looks more like a quake game, and if you can't bunny hop you automatically lose.
My TFC experience:
Joined. Died over and over from totally random explosions with no hints as to where they came from. Tried to learn what was going on but got kicked for being useless.
Joined another. Died over and over from more explosions. Asked for help and tips. Got kicked for being useless.
Pressed F10.
The reason why TF2 is a better game isn't necessarily the simple fact that they removed a lot of stupid game elements, it's the fact that BECAUSE they removed those stupid elements and rebuilt the game from scratch, it's a LOT more newbie-friendly yet still tightly balanced so that hardcore competitive players can have fun, too. You can get into TF2 at any time and learn to enjoy it at the same pace as everybody else. The game is heavily dipped in teamwork and strategy, forcing you to think about what you're doing and how to use the items you have. In TFC/FF, the game's been around for years without frequent updates and it's run amok with die-hard fans who still play it every day, utilizing every exploit and trick they can to maximize their personal kill ratio. They frown upon people who aren't as skilled as they are and choose to berate them rather than accept them.
Even past that, the game itself isn't built around team-based strategy as much as TF2 is and is played more like a crazy fast deathmatch with an objective on the side. Fast-paced deathmatch games aren't fun to me, but I can see the appeal for other people...it's just that it doesn't work out very well when it's supposed to be a team-based game with winning based on the objective, not your kills. TF2 refined the base idea so that it returned to its original intention; that being a team-based shooter with objectives. On top of the game mechanic choices they made, the art design choices also gave it a delicious new taste and has become wildly popular because of it.
TF2 is a very well-designed, well-maintained game made to revise the team fortress game type and to be playable to everybody. TFC/FF are clinging to an old, broken model of the system that just doesn't work anymore for anybody other than die-hard fans. I've got no problem with them playing it; I just wish they'd stop banging on TF2's pipes because their sacred game is THE ONE TRUE FORTRESS.
so, the object of fortress forever is to see how fast you can bunny hop? at least that's what i got from the video.
no thanks. i'll stick to tf2 that was made by people who know what they're doing.
Is there something wrong with me if I enjoyed both games? :raise:
I fucking love playing with the Detonation-Pipe bombs in that.
I wish Sticky bombs in TF2 weren't sticky. Or maybe that can be a demo-unlock.

Actually they weren't in old beta versions. The Grenade Launcher uses the same design as the un-sticky bomb launcher, which was called...the Pipe Bomb Launcher. It launched pipes that just sat there and rolled around, waiting for a remote detonation. You can see it in action in the second TF2 trailer.

Even if this were true you were still wrong, 9 out of 10 times people say bunnyhopping sucks because they can´t do it themselves, in FF it is made dead easy nowdays and if you put a few minutes of effort into it you´ll see that it´s actually fun.

ff owns because it gets all of the tf2 fanboys that dont understand why tfc was fun into a frenzy

This. Like, you don't even have to post and people rage at FF threads because they can't bhop or aim at a fast moving target, which is why they stick to games like TF2, COD4/CSS and other slow paced games.

It's only stupid because you can't do it. Deny it all you wish, you know as well as I know that you can't bhop.

I won Quake 3 tournaments back when I was in high school. It's fun in Quake 3, it's terrible in FF.

Q3 doesn't have bhop, but of course being the great Q3 tourny winner you are, you already know this. :downs:
[editline]02:20AM[/editline]
Stick to winning in TGL and Clanbase leagues, I know it's tough play with skilled players.
Q3 doesn't have bhop
no
no
It doesn't, look it up.
k
good luck hitting anything without "bhop"
Too bad the gameplay is shit, because otherwise, it looks professional and great
I'd enjoy FF if I didn't suck so horribly at it.

I would much rather play a game that doesn't have bunnyhopping compared to one that does.

You do understand you are undermining your cause by saying "lolucan'tbhop"?

Wow, that video sucked ass. Jump, jump, jump, take flag, jump, jump, jump. Did someone even die?
What exactly is my "cause"?
You appear to be trying to convince us pressing space in an easy rythem takes more skill than anything we could ever do in TF2.
Simple fact is, you shouldn't have to rely on an exploit (And it is an exploit, don't try denying it) in order to play the game normally.

More like FF/TFC take more skill than TF2.

It used to be an exploit in QWTF, but when the makers of the TF mod started working on GoldSRC they coded it in. It was, however, toned down in HL and messed around with in TFC. TFC used to have uncapped bhop, but they decided it was too strong and put a cap on it, just like they turned down concussion grenades force.

It takes more skill to jump around than be able to hit people head on in mid air with a rocket?
It takes more skill to jump around than be able to hit people head on in mid air with a rocket?
It's funny watching TF2 players just think that all you do is jump... Pathetic.
