Why is it bullshit, do you have ANY IDEA how much property damage he has done to people over the course of 2 years? Kid deserves it. All he did was cause thousands of dollars in property damage during his "adventure", why should he earn money from that?
Because after he has served his jailtime why can't he write about his experiences?
By that same logic. The rogue warrior guy shouldn't be able to capitalize on how he fucked up government security.
Because after he has served his jailtime why can't he write about his experiences?
He can. its just the money has to pay for compensation to other people.
Because after he has served his jailtime why can't he write about his experiences?
He can, but they're not letting him legally profit from his crimes after his sentence.
-snip- late night posting fail.
what he did was morally wrong and I agree he should be punished for it, however he should get royalties...he'll get the money, but he won't see it until said money has paid off every penny of property damage.
Life, Liberty, and Persuit of happiness.....that was his pursuit of happiness and they are denying him that right.

Sup, my Pursuit of happiness is killing and mutilating you and your entire family, you won't deny me this, will you?

Move along everyone, must be a troll.
Life, Liberty, and Persuit of happiness.....
...without due processes.
I read his wiki. Bad parents. I kinda feel sorry for him. He needs therapy.

Yet many other authors have, how on earth is that fair?

I'm sorry but if we do what we've always done well get what weve always got.
He should at least be deemed "remarkably badass" by the court. Who else would think to STEAL A FUCKING AIRPLANE?
Who else would think to STEAL A FUCKING AIRPLANE?
Well I know one guy, but I heard he died recently.

Yes let's glorify those who break the law. Don't get me wrong laws need to be broken in some cases for society to progress but for something like this it's stupid to regard him as a "badass".
wasn't trolling, but I suppose I deserve that for posting with a lack of sleep

Well he is a badass. No one's saying he did the right thing, in fact he caused tons of people property damage. But stealing a plane, no scratch that, several planes... without even a day of flying lessons? That's pretty badass.
Who else would think to STEAL A FUCKING AIRPLANE?
Someone who wanted to fly somewhere but couldn't afford an airplane.
Badass, but still a thief and brigand whom should be punished.

I'm not sure what you'd define as punishment, but it's obvious that he needs help, and the consequences of his actions should mainly be focused on rehabilitating him. locking him up in prison for several years is asinine.
I read psychiatric files on him, and it's clear that he's had a terrible life due to abusive and neglectful parents, and that he's also suffering from a number of mental illnesses

Prison is a horrible waste of time. Use something faster and more efficient.

Many people think I am for some reason. Some don't realise I'm a mirror.
He cant make any money. His mom on the other hand.

Kind of agree with this, putting him prison only serves to show others what would happen if they tried a similar stunt. Which makes sense because all of this is something people would want to replicate I guess.
Still he doesn't deserved a long prison sentence by any means and he should be given some kind of rehabilitation, a pedophile will always be a pedophile. I don't believe in rehabilitation for all, most people are set in their ways and quick to fall back into them. This kid however is still young, and would probably do well if he had some attention.
Also I don't understand why everyone's so angry about the property damage. The worst thing he did was steal cars and deprive people of something they need. Boats and planes however are a big luxury and they're not something you can steal from someone who can't afford to repair it if it's broken. Not to mention the fact there's insurance on all this shit and most of it wasn't damaged just abandoned.
After 100 thefts the estimated damage totals only a million dollars, and that's involving three airplanes. So it's not like he stole these things and absolutely destroyed them sans the one plan that was totaled.
Have him do community service and use some of the profits from the book to pay for the damages.
