Israel lobby - AIPAC chief: Obama should NOT be even-handed toward Israel and Palestinians

i think everyone in israel should be vacated and the country should be frozen and re-assigned as living spaces for the soon to be homeless polar bear population.
everyone loves polar bears
i mean israel has a valid complaint that having a strip of land thats about 12 miles wide puts them at a disadvantage
Excuse my possible complete lack of historical knowledge, but didn't Israel pretty much take the land from the Palestinians? They have no right to complain.

Also, how exactly is lobbyism different from corruption?

everyone loves polar bears
Surely the Middle East is a terrible place to put polar bears, what with the heat, sand and such.
I would suggest Iceland, but Björk will probably scare them by rubbing eggs on parts of her body :ohdear:

Better suggestion, drop Bjork on Israel.
Fuck Israel
on a serious note though this kind of dumb political pandering is only counter-productive towards a proper solution for peace.
Fine, Arab Palestinians then. Sorry you felt the need to point out such a small thing which everyone gathered the meaning of anyway.
You could be a jewish arab-palestinian.
[editline]24th May 2011[/editline]
I don't like the term arab, it strikes me as too vague.
Starpluck, you sure do like ignoring the fact of why Israel started the 1967 war in the first place?
If Israel didn't, the Arabs would of pretty soon after.
The 1967 borders started the war so why would Israel go back to using them anyway?
That's a pretty fucking huge stretch. That's like Bush's logic of THEY'LL FOLLOW US HOME.

Jewish Palestinians and Arab Palestinians were living in pretty relative peace. You were supporting segregating the two because of what the pre-Israelis did to get that land and the reaction around them.

How so?
It's already been proven that Arabs would attack 1967 Israel so why go back into that position?
President Barack Obama should not take an even-handed approach to the Middle East conflict, as it puts Israel at a disadvantage.
Lol what the fuck.
Israel's government is so hilariously terrible.
[editline]24th May 2011[/editline]
Why is having Israel so important? They're a bunch of Europeans who invaded the Middle East.

Saying they will doesn't count as proof that they will.
Saying they will doesn't count as proof that they will.
I'm going to kill you.
Whatever happens, shit is gonna get real in September for Israel and the Palestinians.
Why is having Israel so important? They're a bunch of Europeans who invaded the Middle East.
Got damnit, if that's true, I demand my pale skin and blue eyes right fucking now!
Got damnit, if that's true, I demand my pale skin and blue eyes right fucking now!
European, not Scandinavian
But I am not European :(
Oh no Israel getting all butthurt over Obamas plans? And then they come forward and say "the US has no role here". Hahaha, we've been helping your dumb asses for how many decades now?
".. puts Israel at a disadvantage". What the fuck where you doing to palestine then? Putting them at even playing fields when you strap their children to your humvees as deterrents? Or was it when you stopped their aid ships? Or maybe it was when you kept bombing them.
If its just ISrael there, and no neighbors that like you. Time to fucking move on out Israel. Move on out.
Got damnit, if that's true, I demand my pale skin and blue eyes right fucking now!
Uhh
You do realise about 90% of the original Israelis were European, right?
I've been reading a good bit into this issue and apparently a big reason for the Palestinians not wanting to give into the border demands is that they would essentially make them into Indian reservations like in the US. Yes they own their own land and are recognized, but is that a fair trade?
Uhh

Actually, around 40% of the Israeli Jews are descended of Jews who were born in Europe, the other 60% (including myself) are descended of Jews born in Arab and Muslim countries. Yet, DNA studies found that vast majority of the Jews are semitic, and that the DNA of the Jews, Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians are nearly the same - but the Jews are most closely related to the Muslim Kurds.
edit: Apparently, it's Jews in general, not Israeli Jews.

The troops massing on the border showed their intentions.

Because most Jews have children with other Jews, Jews have very similar genetics compared to other religions.
wat
Wouldn't the pre-1967 borders put Israel to a 9 mile wide nation?

Really? You took that quote and then said that? Read harder.
Really? You took that quote and then said that? Read harder.
"In a world which is demonstrably on the side of the Palestinians and Arabs - where Israel stands virtually alone - the United States has a special role to play," said the AIPAC director. "When the United States is even-handed, Israel is automatically at a disadvantage, tilting the diplomatic playing field overwhelmingly toward the Palestinians and Arabs."
Spin this for me into a way that makes Israel the good guys, I'm truly curious.
I read this on another website and thought it was interesting.
Anybody know if it's still true?
On March 31, 1977, the Dutch newspaper Trouw published an interview with Palestine Liberation Organization executive committee member Zahir Muhsein. Here's what he said:
"The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism.
For tactical reasons, Jordan, which is a sovereign state with defined borders, cannot raise claims to Haifa and Jaffa, while as a Palestinian, I can undoubtedly demand Haifa, Jaffa, Beer-Sheva and Jerusalem. However, the moment we reclaim our right to all of Palestine, we will not wait even a minute to unite Palestine and Jordan"
AIPAC is scary. They are why no politician wants to take a stand.

PfftthahahaHAHAHAhaha
Talk about exaggeration.
