Or flips over and crushes the guy between ice and water.
How exactly is an almost 5-kilometer-long chunk of the ice going to spontaneously flip over? Unless its a big cigar shape I guess. It would be fun to ride it for a while.
I wonder how much the sea level would rise on the coast of that place in the picture if you pushed the chunk of ice beneath the surface of the water.
This isn't really news worthy, big chunks of ice float by Newfoundland all the time. I used to live there.
Anyone want to drill the ice out and bottle it and sell it to morons for 5 dollars a bottle?
It's called "Iceberg Vodka" and now they've got a prime new picking grounds right here at home.
The one in the picture is just a piece of the Manhattan-Sized one.
My god.
So what, did that one in the photo break off from a larger chunk, or is the picture just taken at a really weird angle/with a really weird lens and there's a lot more iceberg behind what's visible/it's larger than it actually looks? I'm looking at the iceberg but I'm having trouble using anything as a reference for size. I can't tell how far out from the coast line it is. It only looks like it's... what, a hundred or so metres away? But it could well be much further. [editline]12th August 2011[/editline] Lack of perspective is a bitch (or course this image is much worse than the iceberg one 'cause the only area in the image with no perspective in the iceberg one is between the iceberg and land).
Here's some better pics to picture the size of it.
