I dont really watch anime so i dont know what the shitstorm about this is, but if the movie has Gary Oldman, then I'm watching it.

Bumping this up. Frankly, what'll kill this movie isn't that it's live action, or their choice of actors, but the sweeping changes they're going to make to it in order to make the ideas as easy to relate to the American public as possible. A lot of themes in the movie are only truly attributable to Japanese society, including major plot points. It doesn't stand a chance.
Ah, man, Akira is my favorite movie. Rumors and such have been going around for a long time abut all the stupid shit they're doing with this.
This is shaping up to be the worst whitewashed foreign remake shat out by Hollywood in history.
