Lets call their goddamn bluff. If we get serious and actually begin to amass troops in response to their threats, maybe we can finally stare them down and move towards peace. If we can effectively establish that their bluffs and threats are no longer going to net them food aid or reduced sanctions, we might actually be able to force them into pursuing diplomatic channels.
Either way, we can't really afford to keep playing this game forever. At some point there has to be a reversal on who is playing defensively. They are either crazy or they aren't. If they are crazy, it is best we start a fight before they are better armed in terms of nuclear ordinance. If they aren't crazy, then they will back down and we can avoid bloodshed possibly entirely.
I'm guessing this is the point of the war games, but I'm not sure the war games are as threatening as they need to be.
That's actually a really good idea...
Guess it's the first time inciting war might be a good thing
I'm not really sure what to think of it
How the fuck will their artillery even reach that far? Like WTF? Do they have some super long range artillery or some shit.
I think rocket artillery can reach 100kms or so, but that is still a few thousand short. It's also inaccurate as hell
I hope America doesn't react. This is exactly the kind of attention North Korean media wants to spin into something different, and will validate their ego ("haha! Not even America can ignore us now!").
This is literally a larger example of that fat kid with no friends who talks shit and tells another kid each day for the whole year "YEAH SON LET'S FIGHT I'LL WHOOP YOUR ASS FAGGOT" but nothing ever comes out of it, or if something does the fat kid gets punched and starts crying.
This is all I think about when I see more NK Threats

Oh look at that, another NK threat. What are the odds?
All Kim is doing is poking at a hornet's nest. One day hes going to piss the wrong person off, and then the world gets treated to one hell of a fireworks display.
I want to see them try, but at the same time, I don't. Once, they launched their blank rocket for some test, it crashed into the sea near Vladivostok.

America and SK are not taking this shit lightly, they are ready for anything and I guarantee it once NK actually does make a move they're going to be regretting that
The US and South Korea should blast this over the border to show them what's up:

Funny how opinions change. Past NK threads, the few that argued for this course of action got put down hard.
Maybe it's a type of Psychological warfare. Threaten to do it so many times that eventually we're all just like "Oh my God would you just fucking do it already and shut the fuck up?!" So they won't be punished when they do since we asked for it!

He argued it pretty well.
I expect this will remain a cold war.
North Korea will be knee deep in shit if it attacks anyone, and unless they're completely delusional they should know this. Most likely they're simply trying to make themselves feared, so that they can threaten other countries into giving them better demands. They're trying to use the threat of nukes to establish themselves as a superpower, someone to be feared, and therefor useful as an ally.
America likely won't go for a first strike, because China is in a diplomatic alliance with NK and this could effect Americas trading alliance with them. Furthermore a first strike from the US could provoke more countries hostile to the US to take sides with NK, and I still believe the US is still very keen on keeping a close eye on the middle east due to the palestine-conflict and the possibility of Iran having nukes. They're probably going to hope for SK and China to deal with NK first, and only passively interfere unless attacked directly.
I don't think any nukes will ever be involved, because an attack with nukes would always have the looming threat of retaliation with nukes.

Or they're trying to get us to attack first so they can cry to China.
Not like they'll help them anyways, but still.

thaaat would explain alot ...
'combat mode'?
Fuck, are they building transformers or something?
'combat mode'?

No, that would be South Korea
How real are these threats nowadays?
I get the feeling that it's something NK does to show its own people how "cool" the government are. If they really are entering "combat mode" and is about to blow USA up, I doubt they'd air it on some public channel.
Prehaps an intervention is a good thing. I mean before they can craft weapons that really work
I'm imagining a rocket with a big knob on the side with two settings, Off and Combat Mode

Do they know how large is the US ?
Post a big enough map there, bud?
Sounds like some guy saying like I'M GONNA PUNCH YOU and he doesn't
Or they're trying to get us to attack first so they can cry to China.

Who knows, Maybe China has been slowly killing us with cheap knick knacks for the last few decades
I find it funny that North Korea keeps making these threats, obviously not knowing how bad the United States will smear them.
Fuck you North Korea.
You fucking loosers.
Post a big enough map there, bud?
The bigger, the better :v:
Even hippies are yelling for them to do something.
By acting constantly crazy, bringing things to the edge of war, they can gain smaller demands. "We'll go to war with you!" "How about we give you some rice?" "That won't work!" "How about some tractors and we double the rice?" "That will do for now, I guess."
Then a month later...
"We'll go to war with you!" etc
Difference is that we just don't give a fuck anymore so we slap sanctions on their ass and they take it even farther. "Look, we have a nuke!"
"Nort Korea threat..."
oh, more empty threats I see

They could still go to war with us, though. The WPK and the KPA have different ideas on how to deal with the West right now. The KPA is eager to turn Seoul into a smoldering crater and the WPK is trying to reach cooperation and aid agreements. KJU has to appease the KPA or face a coup, especially this early in his regime. Because of his father's "military-first" policy, the KPA is so large and bloated and powerful that it makes up half the government. KJU is trying to move the WPK into favor over the military like his grandfather, and trying to make reforms, but because of the military powerhouse he has to appease it. We initially thought that KJU, being trained in the military before becoming leader, was a military hardliner, but that doesn't seem to be the case. When he took power, he axed 30 some generals, disappeared the head of the KPA, and executed the head of the hardliners by mortar. That being said, there's some severe backlash by the KPA from that, so he's now kissing their ass while slowly churning the KPA to the wayside. It might be his hope that by appeasing the KPA to this extent, he can extort gains from the US and RoK, to also appease the WPK. Obviously this isn't working. The KPA may coup or act independently, like we know they had under KJI.
tl;dr It's a complicated situation and it may or may not escalate depending on what is really going on. On one hand, this may just be dick waving for political reasons, on the other, it could be that they're legitimately ramping up for war.
