Why? Why is everybody calling their bluff? Why do we want to be in yet another war? I wish there was just a peaceful and bloodless way to bring down the regime. Everybody on Facepunch is borderline left-wing communist, begging to pull out of the middle east, yet are all begging to enter yet another war. I sometimes just don't understand.

While there are other left-wing communists who would argue this with me, those same communists would hardly argue that, for instance, the Bolshevik invasion of Makhnovtchina or Poland were unjustified. There is a clear justified and unjustified with war, from your own personal standpoint, and while no one wants war, I'm sure that the liberals on FP and I could agree: Korea is a shit place, with shit leadership. This isn't some third-world dictator with some chemical weapons stores from the 1980s that doesn't pose a threat to anyone, this is a regime ran by madmen with nuclear weapons, who have driven their country to cannibalism and has a mini-holocaust going on in their gulags. Unlike, well, any other war in the past 100 years the US has been in, Korea could be justified because of its end result. While I'm sure no leftist wants to see the expansion of American imperialism or South Korean economic domination, exploitation under these groups are far better than the shit-spewing, illegitimate, crazed state that is the DPRK. Millions are already starving, tens of thousands tortured in camps, and nuclear annihilation is a reality for millions in Japan or South Korea. Though I may regret this in a year's time, I would say that invasion of Korea is probably the only justified invasion the US has made post-WWII. That being said, if there is any way to cause the fall of the regime bloodlessly, then by all means, we need to focus on that first. While I do not support any wars, I think that the DPRK needs to go.
becuas war is cool and us is dominate
(Disclaimer: Not talking about the article linked here, but the one that was put online on a Swiss news site about the same topic.) God, Swiss newspaper commenters are among the dumbest people I've ever seen. First they wanted to legalize all drugs, and now they think Best Korea will start World War 3. How do you even get this dumb.

It would be both catastrophic and hilarious if they attempted an actual missile-launch against the US, and their missiles blew up on the launch pads again.
The boy who cried nuke.
;40045820']That's a thread in and of its own self.
True. But their argumentation was horrible in both cases. I mean, they started comparing it to pre-WW2 germany for no other reason than for the sanctions put upon NK, completely ignoring the fact that they have a dictator who completely oppresses the people, and that they literally villified themselves with everyone. Then, there's also the fact that NK is obviously just trying to scare the other countries, which is failing miserably.
Has anyone thought yet that N.K. isn't actually going to launch missiles but in fact just detonate something similar to a briefcase nuke?
Has anyone thought yet that N.K. isn't actually going to launch missiles but in fact just detonate something similar to a briefcase nuke?
I don't really think they have the tech to make such a small nuke. Or the medium to deliver it.
It can't be that hard to design a nuke small enough to wipe out a mile of town and fit into a hand bag or any other means of hiding it. Nor would it be such a surprise if their were NK sympathizers in our own country that could deliver such nuke to where ever. I'm just saying it's a possibility.

I'm just saying it's a possibility.
It's actually extremely difficult compared with the tech that NK has. The only reason they're this far is because the reactors they have were gifted to them, and their nuclear developmental is extremely stunted. It took the US and the USSR something like a decade to design a nuke small enough to fit onto an ICBM, and those were hydrogen bombs- not the much bulkier, but much less effective atomic bombs that the North barely has now. To give you an idea, the bombs the North are using are small than Hiroshima and Nagasaki in yield, but probably far larger in actual size. These bombs are the size of cars and weigh tons. It's far harder to make a nuke smaller than it is to make it larger, physically. I'd be surprised if they could fit one of their bombs in a truck and pull a World in Conflict. Now, a dirty bomb on the other hand...
If anyone actually took their threats seriously I feel like somebody would be taking preemptive actions already. Like if we were expected to believe that they were capable of launching a nuke and hitting Washington DC, wouldn't they also expect us to react and stick a fucking boot up their ass before they could ever even try? I don't really get their logic, scare tactics don't work if everybody knows it's a fuck-load of shit, because they're trying to scare larger, more powerful nations.
