and Hawaii is literally the best place to go if you like beach weather and oceans. 100% factually true no debate gtfo.
Hawaii is pretty sick though

New York and London deserve their rank too.

I have to disagree with you there on New York.

Might not have some other cities' history, but it really represents the evolution of the western world imo.
Visited it twice, as a foreigner not really into "modern cities", it's still a sight for sore eyes.

To me it's more like a sight to make my eyes sore, but to each is own.
London was pretty terrible, every single day was packed with fuck loads of people. Tourist or workers going about. Even during off peak hours, it's still packed like fuck. Was there on an Monday afternoon, and it felt like a Saturday night. Went to Soho for food, had to wait fucking 1 hour everywhere just for dinner. Jesus. And the restaurant we went to were overworked, it was like 1 waitress serving every 10 customers.
Also, the hotels were either fucking classy and fit for a king and bloody expensive, or a some shitty motel that is still pretty expensive.

Well what did you expect, it's a city with 13 million locals and 100million+ annual tourists, taking up an area that would otherwise be occupied by a 3million locals in an american-style city. Unless you're there on business, there to make money; you'd get a better value for your time someplace else. Milano, Koln, Stuttgart, Warsaw, Prague, Hamburg, Lisbon, Berlin, Vienna, Sevilla, Valencia, Bilbao, Rotterdam, Hague will offer the same "Big city" experience, if that is what you were looking for, but with much less hastle and would be less crowded and troublesome.
Went to Paris for a week and it was fucking awesome. Yeah, it was dirty and shit, but the weather was so nice, so much cool architecture and outdoor parks, people were for the most part nice, and of course hella cultural sites.
And for some reason, thousands and thousands of Japanese tourists, who flocked throughout the city in huge mobs.
I immediately knew which cities would be on the list.
These lists usually take quantity over quality, I would rather be in a nice town with plenty historical significance rather than a boring city that's densely peopled.
[sp]Istanbul is an exception, densely peopled but has lots of significance, too many slums though[/sp]
Sydney is a great place to be.
That is, if you can stand the heat around this time of the year.
I wouldn't like to live there, but just going to Sydney on a day trip or a holiday is really nice. It's such a busy city, but I always feel the atmosphere just walking down the street is so carefree.
The harbor is lovely too.
Istanbul is a nice place, the sights are pretty and the food's great
As a person who eats rice a lot, their rice is fucking delicious. How the fuck do I get rice to taste like that?

London only gets around 15 million international visitors, not 100million+
The rest is pretty true though

~150million people land in London each year by plane. Considering there's other ways of going to London, by train from the UK, from mainland europe through Eurotrain, by car, by passenger vessels, I'd say there's plenty more than 100million.

do you seriously believe more than 100 million tourists visit london each year
[editline]19th January 2015[/editline]
Data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed London had 16.8 million visitors in 2013
yes very close to 100 million+
Damn, this site is full of cynical ass people. I'm sure half of you who are bitching about these cities haven't even been there. Like another user said, you have to appreciate all the parts of a city to understand it. The good and the bad. Yin and Yang. Life is dirty, not some sterile clean computer lab.
New York city is fantastic for that very reason. It's the only city that doesn't hide it's trash; it flaunts it.
NO BERLIN?
Like, really? No Berlin? Why? Why would someone exclude Berlin from that list????

Eh I prefer Munich to Berlin but I do agree that Berlin should've been on this list.
My favorite city is Savannah, Georgia. It's absolutely amazing, and completely affordable for the average person to take a trip to and enjoy themselves.
I highly recommend going at least once in your life. It has a rich history, beautiful architecture with a perfect blend of nature and city, and there's a good amount of things to do to keep you entertained while you visit.
You obviously just don't appreciate the magic of thousands of people walking places while there are big advertisements on tall buildings around you.
Pft, simpletons.
Not to mention shibuya in tokyo makes that look like shit.
London is the most boring city I've ever visited.
If i had to list my own top 5 cities i've been to, it'd probably be melbourne, tokyo, london, kyoto, and bangkok. Although i've never been to the states, and i hated paris. Lyon is so much better, Lille and Montpelier are pretty sick too. I did like london though.
I think NYC is a pretty great. I went there a couple of times, the city is easy to navigate, the people aren't bad at all, and there is so much to see/do.
Also, dubai is utter shit. The airport sucks, and it is essentially just a city in the middle of the desert.
What's the difference?
One is full of robbers, pirates and general nasty people. The other is in Africa.
I'd visit Berlin over Paris any day.
Haven't been to New York.
London is pretty nice, I was only there for a week, but after getting familiar with the Tube I had a great time exploring the city. There's also a certain charm to British pub culture I think.

Oh man I hated Dubai. It's a shame since I absolutely love Emirates and they only fly into Dubai from Western Australia. Chances are when I fly long distance I'll still fly Emirates though.

Hurts to see no italian city in the wonder list. Milan will be cleaned up and polished for the world expo, I'd be sure not to miss out on it. Residents are snotty AF but their cathedral game ridiculous

Qantas does fly to dubai as well.
Qantas does fly to dubai as well.
Qantas does, but Emirates mostly, if not always, flies into Dubai then out to whatever city, whereas Qantas would probably take a different route.
Wouldn't want to fly Qantas anyway, never really liked them.
