It's not a bad idea but probably won't happen, those complaining and just calling him an idiot are most likely in massive clans and have C4's coming out their ass. Even if this did happen no one would force you to play on it, you can just stay on the server you play on and the "Non-raiding" servers will just be another name in the server list next to the 'Instant craft servers' and 'no sleeper servers'.

Actually I always play lone wolf, or with one or two friends when they are online. You just gotta keep playing and eventually you will be top dog. You will still get raided, but when you hear that ticking timer you can be ready.
Im all for modded servers to suit everyones preferences ;-)

PvP isn't really 'essential' (don't get me wrong - it's a big part of survival) but there's more to survival than murdering other players. Finding food, hunting wild life, surviving environmental hazards, so on.

Well. Theres a modded server that turns pvp on only at certain hours. This is so that ppl can safely gather and prepate for the fight. A bit care bear but is a good idea. Having said that they cant stop raiding out of pvp hours...
Anyway. Its late ;-) is hell of a fun game...

Yeah, I kinda fucked up there, it's been a rather long day. (I'm sure everyone here cares so much though. :v:) However, in the current build it is most certainly the main focus.

I play with one other friend and we've been in the same place for 6 days tomorrow, its all about smart placement and finding the right spot to squeeze into. Its part of what makes the game so fun to me.

It's a lot about strategy, you have to plan ahead and make your house really secure. you shouldn't ever need indestructable doors, just a lot of hard-to-break doors. No ones going to blow through 15 doors, it is way too much c4. Plus now that we have spiked walls and all, it makes OP's idea even less viable.

Actually kinda of excites me when people say OP's. Who wants to join a server with me create one hell of a honey pot. Put 15 doors all kinds of security fortress like so they can run their ops and in the center put one lonely storage box with 1 piece of charcoal in it. Reminds me of a christmas present my brother got one year and then watch from afar as the raiders waste all their c4.

only one problem with that... everyone got server wiped, and will be wiped again, learn from your mistake maximize ur defense learn to play basically. next time theres a server wipe you might end up at the top. its actually a lot of fun to find ppl who are like you to play with and garner ur revenge upon the world. ive built elaborate bases, had multiple hour sieges/defenses, and murdered my fellow man on almost a genocidal rate. its been a great success.
i see all points from both sides, my thought process on this though is, New players that have literally nothing but a rock spawn in and die pretty much instantly there is no safe spawn point at all on any official server i have not once spawned in an area that has had no structures or groups of people in kevlar running around killing you as soon as they see you, even if you get that lucky break to not spawn instantly into death as soon as you think you have some what of a decent start have just enough resources to get a small base hidden or not you get killed by a guy with a m4/shotgun and kevlar armor. ive play both servers PVP and PVE the only difference between the 2 is on PVE you cant defend your stuff from being stolen from infront of your face while the person stealing it is laughing at you because they had enough c4 to blow your 50 metal doors down in a matter of 20 seconds.
this game is about SURVIVAL Not let me kill all these people because its fun to make them rage, Survival isnt pvp and anyone that thinks this doesnt know what survival is and should look it up, Yes in real world situations there will always be that small group that will kill a person for their shit HOWEVER there are WAY more people that would survive and help others survive then just run around with a gun killing anyone they see or deemed should die that day. im sorry to say but survival is about gathering resources and making a shelter to keep you alive from the elements of the world be it wildlife or zombies or w/e not to keep others trying to survive out. if the people in this game wherent such little kids about the game thinking o i got a gun now i can run around killing everyone because im to lazy to gather my own resources to build a halfway decent safe house or just because its fun to kill a naked dude with no way of defending them selfs the game would actually be 10x more fun.
this is just my opinion i prolly wont reply back to any posts so i really dont care if you trash on me or not, but this game atm is broken theres not nearly enough resource spawns to player count for any new person trying to learn the game to even get started nevermind being killed ever 2 seconds by a dick with a gun.

Look, you people need to realize everyone has a different skill level. You can't just tell yourself "wow im not very good at playing this game", No it has to be "WOW BANDITS ARE PATHETIC WHO KILLS NEW SPAWNS"
There are no elements to survive, once you shoot a bear with 4 arrows you don't need food for 3 days of play.. There are no storms, etc. If there WERE.. you'd be right, the game would be much more difficult from a PvE perspective and maybe you wouldn't kill everyone you saw. But at this point in development, the most challenging thing to do is get C4 incase someone pisses you off enough that you want to ruin their house. Other than that you have to find ways to entertain yourself in this game especially when you have all the gear which is not very difficult to acquire as there are no rare items, special materials, or anything to bring players together. Un-creative players entertain themselves by seeing how many shots it takes to kill that running naked dude.

P.S I don't think I have EVER new spawned and instant died. You're just not being smart about where you farm / you dont even look up from the rock your hitting. (another issue of you not being very good / not playing very long)
And I too play mostly alone, with my good friend usually sleeping back the house who pops on from time to time.
The issue isn't with the players / community, its with how the game is set up at the moment. naked players share the same 1-2 Km landscape as the people who've been playing since the last wipe. These means if the m4kev's go out to find some other squad to firefight, they run into all the new friends because the map has no hierarchy within the loot map.
There are no numerical features to seperate new players from old so theres a large clash atm that keeps everyone in one big clusterfuck. This is an issue that has been officially recognized and WILL be changed. (so if you take anything from this novel I've written, it's that)

The run speeds in this game are not set up so people in kevlar run faster than you, theres no crippling effect when you get hit in the leg.. as the game progress there might be a lot more PVE content in the world, Netural military camps that you can raid for some nice stuff, or roaming bandits
All of it, make it an Option for the server, or at least allow modding, so people can create the Gaming experience they like,
