I would rather not have that much game customization for the server owners.[/QUOTE] Servers with admins who are not mature enough to handle it will ruin their servers and players will migrate to the servers where admins don't abuse the Rcon.
For the CFG Id like to see disable.airdrop true/false (able to turn it off here, so it can not be called by admin ingame) disable.explosives true/false ( charges can not be crafted, useful for ex pve & RP servers ) disable.car true/false ( and let it possible to use them again if turned on ) set.servername "" (so we can set our own names) set.playerpassword "" (able to lock server ) rcon.moderatorpassword "" ( uses rcon.modlogin ingame, this group has only access to basic kick/TP/say/mute ) Part from this also like to see more options for logging chat and actions Couple of rcon's I would like to see list.players (list players by name that's online) player.mute (mute a player from chat) server.time day/night ( trigger daytime or nighttime ) save.rollback ( rollsback to last save.all command ) do.coords (for admin usage only ) Thats some of it now, have a nice one Sign RogueNerdy

The game could also have more success if certain stuff is open for people to be creative.

Hello Garry, I would like to see some rcon additions such as: -Global warning server restarting in t minus ... -item re-spawn rate controls -NPC re-spawn rate controls -gravity -some kind of anti grief features controls (no building on anothers house) -safe zones ability true/false on a PVE/PVP server -a better god-mode where you do not die from falling off a tower and also all the npc's will ignore you -remote access, chat, kick. ban, etc... -spawn NPC controls, deer, zombie, Bears, trees etc ... -right click (on Name) drop-down menu for chat kick, slay, ban, teleport, (some people have very long names and small numbers too) -ability to lock the server for friends only parties -ability to add an admin in console add.playername steamID I hope I am not asking you to make an admin-mod, just the ability to add some admin-commands Cheers ! +1 on being able to set safe zones, or a non pvp/building area that the admin can set like in minecraft moderator commands - can send public messages, warn people, kick etc with out full r.con access
Garry: Good morning! I noted that there was a command to teleport to coordinates X,Y,Z but no command to figure out what your coordinates are. /do cords does not seem to work. If there is a command, please let me know what it is. Thanks!

I was thinking of making it so instead of specifying a 'save' folder and a seperate 'config' folder, you just specify a general 'server' folder - and save is in 'server/save' and logs are in 'server/logs'. And maybe it would look for config files in there too.. maybe it would autorun 'server/autorun.cfg'
It would be nice to have a MOTD(message of the day) available on connect to inform players about server-specific (or general rust) information. Yesterday for example someone was asking about a world wipe every 5 minutes. It would also be nice to have more detailed logging available. Connect/Disconnects, chat log, action log would all be excellent administrative information to have. Being able to spectate a player would be nice to verify exploiting.
Garry, There seems to be a problem with certain people being unable to connect to my server. Hey, could anyone of you Server Owners please help me? My friend doesn't know how to buy a server / get the server but we found the hosting people just we don't know how to purchase it.. Please help :(
Please release server files for public, not only hosting services... Everyone who owns the game should be allowed to have a server hosted on their own computer, it's really good for people that only want to play with friends.
Garry, Will rust supoort asia language (unicode) ? any hosting in asia ? A lots players in asia ( Chinese / Japan) , but we just input english words...
The title of this thread is kind of misleading. Is it for people who are hosting the servers (OWNERS of servers) or people who are renting servers. And is it for the technical aspects (RCon commands/features) or something else?
As Im a streamer, either make the rcon password shows up as **** after entering it and logged in console or a way to clean/wipe the console window.

If I were able to host one on a dedicated server, how demanding would it be and what specs would generally be recommended?
The #1 thing needed right now in Rust is remote access to Rcon outside of the server console or in-game. This would fix a couple of things: 1. It would bring the obvious benefit of remote server administration, no need to log into the game or use the console window to issue commands. 2. It would allow users to build their own software to solve and improve other issues that exist right now as well. Things like chat logs can be pulled from Rcon and archived with a program. A whitelisting program can connect to Rcon and use the connection information to manage users who aren't the whitelist, and so on. We created the first whitelist for DayZ and even though everyone laughed at the idea at the time, it eventually became a standard thing and I think the same can happen with Rust. We basically want to link all of our users to forum accounts, and use that relationship for whitelisting and banning -- but we need actual remote rcon to make it. Oh, and banning players should kick them too. We banned a guy by his Steam ID but he had a blank name so he couldn't be kicked. Either it's impossible to kick people with blank names or I'm dumb. Oh, and the save files should be in a SQL/SQLite database, because the massive amount of folders doesn't really make a lot of sense and is hard to work with. If it were in a proper database, it would be easy to work with the information. For example, to kill or move a stuck player by modifying their entry, or just general cleanup on player data as it's going to get big after awhile.
- show inventar of a player - show screen/cam of a player - log who has used c4/killed player (good for pve server) - change airdrop inventar (no c4, more buildings, food...) - list of players who is online - show coords - start cam/stop cam - admin message/welcome message ("say" command maybe in red) with a timer that the message appears every x minutes - better/faster player teleporting/kick/ban as it takes some time with special playernames - logfile on the server with all (kicked player/player killed player with c4/player connected...)

Don't allow admins to spawn items, tp, or other things. Personally I would prefer it to where they can only bring back up the server. Other than that they kick/bank people if they get killed, spawn in items to raid people, tp people to them and kill them, fly around and raid people, spawn in items for people, ect... This whole letting players rent their own servers is ruining the game :(.

When you see a server with 50, 80, 100 people playing, how hard is it to log in and ask publicly how the server is administered? Or play on an official server, or do anything proactive? I personally don't use or care about TP or spawn item, but you won't take my kick/ban from me. Good luck with that one. The only ability an admin should have is to turn their server on/off...come on....Hey you! Hacker!!! Stop doing that or I'll turn my server off and on until you get tired of reconnecting... Work harder / complain less
