Imo it's the status quo for games releasing early access keys of any kind.
The amount of games I got access to by either : Searching for one or asking for one (which is all everyone here is doing) is huge. Dozens and dozens of games.
Just because this one particular game doesn't operate like that the community here seems to rally against everyone else - as though they don't know it doesn't work like every other early access deal everywhere else?
TL;DR Being able to pickup a key by begging for one on the forums is the norm for early access everywhere else. These people have no reason to think differently.

You know, not all of us newcomers are so bad, I can understand that the majority might be. But it wouldn't hurt to be a bit more welcoming.
Maybe the first post should be edited to give us the latest update, because realistically us newcomers aren't going to search through 56 pages to find out what we need to do. Don't get so sour when we're only doing what we think is right.
