I've noticed that when a server first appears on your list it keeps the name and if the server owner changes the actual server name but then doesn't claim his old server and update the info there it will remain with the old name (or at least that's what I noticed) Basically I changed my regular server name when I already claimed my old one, and it never updated to the new server name -- it just changes the server name to whatever I type in the site and not what it pulls from the browser itself, even though it was always still pulling the right player count/ip and etc Also happy to be a sponsored server! I love the site and I also really hope you guys find a solution to the community voting -- that's being heavily abused and I gave up on having my players vote as they cannot compete against people using proxies
We will look into this problem with the server name. Sorry about that. #1 priority is addressing voter fraud. The way we will do this is change the algorithm (and reset the ranks once the new system is live). The last thing we want right now is voter fraud and the only way we can fix that is by building better tools to detect it. And then dealing with it.
We've fixed voter fraud (if you missed it) - we now use steam integration and over 1000 votes have been cast with the new method, all with unique steam ids (we check if the user has rust). Also, we just put tagging live. We'll be working on the listing and how that will work as soon as it starts to fill up but we wanted to get this out to those that want it. To use it simply claim your servers on the site and edit server details. We've made it where it will suggest common tags (tags others have provided) so the classification and lists will be more filled.

Nice work!

Do you know of any browser plugins that would allow the local client to ping a list of servers? I'd be interested in integrating that if it's something people would use, for sure.
I decided to take a break from the routine stuff and just build something cool. Dynamic banners were created to support your server listing. You can find them under the banner section of each server listing. Feel free to link them on your forums, websites, blogs, etc. :)
This server list is really awesome imo. Good way to find a server that has what you are looking for.

We added the ability to add your server to the site manually :) This will bring down a lot of the twitter requests and people will claim their server faster. *fingers crossed*
How does the points system work on this site?
Wow this site is very useful. Thanks!
How does the points system work on this site?
10 points for every vote, 2 points for every time you are offline. We are also adding in points for every time your server has people playing in it (not based on volume, of course). You also get participation points because you are providing more details about your server so people can learn more about the play-style, etc. This is a one time set of points, of course. Hope that clears it up. And Villusia, thanks! Glad you find it useful!
Hmm... curious. I tested it yesterday to try to figure it out. My server was up all day after the update and had 2 points at the time. Then I voted for my own site and got 10 points. Today, after no down time, I have 2 points. Is something amiss? Not that I particularly care much about my ranking, just trying to figure out how the points system works. Does it degrade over time?

[editline]25th January 2014[/editline]
it only degrades if your server can't be queried.
if you want to toss me your listing, i can take a look. not sure what it could be, tbh. i know with the update yesterday a lot of servers were offline for a bit while they were upgraded.
Well, from the time I did the update and fired the server back up. I had an average of ~20 players on all day with no server downtime, so it must have been capable of responding to queries if players could connect reliably, right? Maybe your query TTL is set too low and returning downtime false positives? Hope you don't take my observations as inflammatory... as a developer myself I tend to over-test things for debugging purposes. Edit: pm'd the server URL to you.
Sponsored Bidding is open again. More details here on how that works: http://rustservers.tumblr.com/post/73310927822/sponsored-listings Good luck everyone! :)
Awesome work jwerd!
