Don't kid yourself, it's unfortunate but we all know you cheated, better to man up and admit it, disconnecting at the same spot as your friend would not trigger a VAC ban, this is not even remotely how the system works, the system doesn't detect bugs in the game but if anything was injected and/or changed in the .exe or the game files.
With that being said, bring it to Steam/Valve, they handle VAC bans and not us, if you've already done that then just patiently wait, there's no reason to get angry and on the defensive if you've already done all you could.

Wrong, VAC bans on engine, a source engine ban would not extend to Rust, the opposite is also true.
CS:GO its working :| I`m not banned on CS:GO VAC.

Hmmf alright im sure your right because i did a experiment with VAC and i hacked on TF2 on purpose on a alt then installed dota and was banned on that aswell and they have the same engine so ya i was wrong just ignore what i said. Plus VAC is not on many games mainly source other then Rust and a few others. So heigou is right.

I hate to see cheaters on the server as much as the next person. But, you all seem very positive about the reliability of the VAC software.
Let's be honest, if it really is 100% foolproof, then it will be the first EVER piece of software in history that is.

VAC doesnt make mistakes enless its a false positive which are rare and dont happen to one person it will happen to MANY people. im sure this has already been said.

We aren't positive about VAC's reliability, we are positive that in the event of an undeserved ban action will be taken to fix it, which it will so long as OP really didn't cheat.
