Would be Nice to have servers for about 50 - 60 Eueros but 150 euros ? who wants to pay that .... Not Me
I merged with Austin and Fitz hosting creating Optic-Hosting, before that we were Bedrock Hosting, we had operated for a year until we merged. We have a lot of experience with webhosting and gameserver hosting so we arent exactly new.
I used bedrock hosting to run my minecraft server. Lasted 4 months with no problems and no lag and nearly 100% uptime. Vouch to these guys for the experience part of things.
If their details are the domain registrars info, then it means they paid for WHOIS security which hides your real information and displays the registrars. It has nothing to do with who has actual ownership. Since GoDaddy was one of your suggestions, you will see that you can pay $8.59 per year for Privacy Protection which says "Hides your personal information from public view in the WHOIS directory."
It does not always mean that a whois privacy service was used for the domain, there has being many cases where allowing a third party to register a domain for you with another service resulted in that third party's details being placed on the whois record rather than yours. I assumed inerol.com was a third party domain registration service. Even if it is whois privacy they should not even be using it anyway as its a bit suspicious and if the company that is offering whois privacy dies or cuts you off then they keep the domain. Its just really bad practice especially for an "experienced host". Also with hosts like godaddy they usually give some kind of indication that whois privacy was used in the whois record.
Christ. DDOS protection doesn't work very well for multiplayer games, quit asking like it's that easy.
I was just wondering, as a company with hosting experience, and the nature of gaming in general ( where DDoSing is the only way idiots can express their disapproval) if he had protection in place. That's it. It must exist or we would see a whole lot more of this garbage in other games. But he answered my question right below, with a "maybe, but probably not".
Ddos protection or not, anything that can handle a rust server is better than the $200 for a basic plan that we are currently stuck with.

Where is optic-hosting based?
Where is optic-hosting based?
USA, TN
USA, TN
Can you do EU hosting? I am tired of the dreadful service and performance ideal hosting provides.
Can you do EU hosting? I am tired of the dreadful service and performance ideal hosting provides.
When we get started it will probably based off our US node but we might expand.
Great to see others wanting to do it.
Optic-Hosting, you have my bow.
I'm in TN, that'd be some nice ping =P
Sumited a email to FacePunch, if we are accepted when we get situated we will have a 1st day sale!
You also used bedrock?
yup :) Great service
I am currently unsure what the exact status of this is, we got one reply from garry asking questions about Optic, answered them still no reply. If anyone is in contact with Garry could you ask him about this?
Ideal hosting probably paying him to keep you away
Ideal hosting probably paying him to keep you away
Well as you can see from earlier in this thread they have "dreadful service and proformance".
I'll be keeping an eye on this tread. Been wanting to know if another provider was going to set up :)
I'll be keeping an eye on this tread. Ideal having a monopoly isnt ideal.
I hope they let Optic start hosting. The 'Other' guys have crappy prices for what they provide. Down 50% of the time and $200 for a basic server ? That's retarded. Best of luck Optic-Hosting! We need some actual server hosting here. I know I'll be more than happy going for Optic than other guys. Especially since they've had plenty experience in the past, and will provide a much better service. :v:

I would be interested in your services, as are many others I am sure. Ideal hosting is like the Apple of Rust game server providers, except they have a real monopoly.
Thank you for your good comments!
Only being honest :3 I've had experiences with Ideal, My friend had a MineCraft server through them. (I'm pretty sure) Anyways, it sucked, and had more downtime than that of the Rust servers. I hope you guys will offer affordable prices, and better deals. :) We're all rooting for you, and can't wait to have some decent services available. To the competition - I may seem like I'm being rude, but with passed experience you guys suck. And to ask for $150 - $250 for basic deals? Has anyone even fallen for that price? I know server hosting can be expensive, but I want what i'm paying for. Not a 'Super fast Solid Server - but with 50%(+) Downtime.'

Well, I'll begin here. I have ran hosting services in the past, and I do know what I am talking about. Lets begin with the first part: providing services and having the capacity to provide them. Seeing as though, if you were allowed to be an "official host", you would be the second provider able to offer Rust servers. That said, you would most likely get a pretty large boom in orders. Do you strongly believe that you would be able to, at a lower price than the competition, offer (lets lowball this) 96% server uptime, not oversell, quick support response times, and still be around in 5 months? I will tell you now that server costs would be pretty steep. I'm not sure what Rust servers require in specs, but I would make the assumption that it takes a bit more than running Proxmox on some cheap OVH dedi to provision a few 1GB VMs. And not to be rude, but being able to run a Minecraft server really does not show any experience in my opinion. For one, I would be willing to bet (again, not to be rude, but going off of past experiences), that you just provisioned services manually once you received orders. I'd have to recommend that you write a script (pretty simple with or without WHMCS or other billing solutions) to automatically provision services. Also, you would need to actually register yourself as a valid business if you're going to be accepting payments, and this isn't just a hobby. Take all of that into consideration, and I am sure Garry would too. 1. Can you provide excellent server performance near 24/7? 2. Will you have the money to stay around for more than 6 months? 3. Will you have the know-how to setup automatic provisioning (I can assure you that manual provisioning will not work for very long) 4. Are you willing to register yourself as a legitimate business? Another question. What happened to your clients that you had with Bedrockhosting? I see that the website is offline as of now, and your optichosting site is just some cPanel default page (You shouldn't actually be using a shared hosting service if you're looking to impress, move to atleast a VPS).

Also we have hosted more than just MC servers, and we do have the funds to stay afloat with our current setup for more than 8 months (we have done the math).
