Do you have Rust open when you're doing this?
Reboot and try the registry change before launching Steam.

I asked you to run regedit.exe, NOT the fix GoodGuyGrant is offering. You need to really really read instructions carefully when dealing with the Registry. I'm not taking responsibility if you fuck up your Windows install and can't boot anymore.
it wont let me access permissions
Do you share the computer with another user? If so, you may not have enough permissions to apply the fix. Get the computers administrator to help you out.
Cheers,
Grant.

Run Regedit.exe as Administrator.
If you can't do that, you need to do this:
Control Panel > User Accounts
You'll see your account there. Does it say Administrator or Limited User?

I am running it as Administrator.
btmerrill33, I'm gonna say it again.
You need to read instructions fully when messing with the Registry.
Do you share the computer with another person?
yes, but i have access to both accounts
Try this fix on the other account. Start by just trying to access the Permissions screen of Regedit. If that works, run the fix as admin.

thats what i tryed, i changed to admin a bit ago.
Wait, so what is your other account? You're on an administrator account now, but is the other a Limited User account?
Yes, the other is Limited
Try running Rust, through Steam, on the administrator account.

mega link, anyone?
Funny, works just fine for me. I just downloaded it.
Copy this EXACTLY into a text file, rename it rustfix.reg (make sure you save as All Files or else it'll put .txt on the end!), and then run it.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\EasyAntiCheat]
"GamesInstalled"="12;"
"ServiceVersion"=dword:00000004
It's the contents of the file in plain text.
GoodGuyGrant can you upload file again i can't dowload from google drive
Hello,
Just been messing around with some registry files that I have copied from a friends working version of rust. After manually installing EAC from it's setup file and applying the working registry to my computer, the game has started to work.
I will post an update in 10 minutes to verify my findings, I can also provide the working registry file for those who want to try it.
Cheers,
GoodGuyGrant.
UPDATE: Ok, it seems that my problems are now corrected. For those wanting to try the registry fix here is the link. Simply download and double click the file; It will apply a missing "ServiceVersion" registry entry.
I hope this can help some people out,
Cheers,
GoodGuyGrant.
Worked.
Ok I tried EVERYTHING.
I read every single guide on this and other forums how to deal with this.
Tried running everything as administrator, tried the beta none fix, finally created the rustfix.reg file, ran it with Steam shut - and it said that it was added succesfully, then I run Rust launcher as administrator and still get kicked after 20 seconds every time.
Wtf? How can I deal with this if I did everything possible?
Please help :(
