Ok I tried EVERYTHING.
I read every single guide on this and other forums how to deal with this.
Tried running everything as administrator, tried the beta none fix, finally created the rustfix.reg file, ran it with Steam shut - and it said that it was added succesfully, then I run Rust launcher as administrator and still get kicked after 20 seconds every time.
Wtf? How can I deal with this if I did everything possible?
Please help :(
Did you launch Rust from Steam after running the fix? Or are you clicking on RustClient.exe? (Run it from Steam if you are.)
Thank you worked a treat
Funny, works just fine for me. I just downloaded it.
Copy this EXACTLY into a text file, rename it rustfix.reg (make sure you save as All Files or else it'll put .txt on the end!), and then run it.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\EasyAntiCheat]
"GamesInstalled"="12;"
"ServiceVersion"=dword:00000004
It's the contents of the file in plain text.

Hello,
Just been messing around with some registry files that I have copied from a friends working version of rust. After manually installing EAC from it's setup file and applying the working registry to my computer, the game has started to work.
I will post an update in 10 minutes to verify my findings, I can also provide the working registry file for those who want to try it.
Cheers,
GoodGuyGrant.
UPDATE: Ok, it seems that my problems are now corrected. For those wanting to try the registry fix here is the link. Simply download and double click the file; It will apply a missing "ServiceVersion" registry entry.
I hope this can help some people out,
Cheers,
GoodGuyGrant.
Alright that fixed the issue so far but now i got another error. saying following:
Rust Launcher Error: LoadingError - StartService failed (2)
hope u guys can help me, just downloaded the game and i cant even play it :(
Alright, Elix, I'm quite stupid with computer stuff, when I open regeddit, I go to edit and permissions cannot be highlighted by me to access it. I am the only user on this computer with admin permissions and it still doesn't allow me to access it. I would love some more help on this. And where do I put the text file thing once I figure out where I make it at? And GGG if you could re-make your download for us semi-pro computer people that would be awesome.
Cheers that worked
where do i put the text file?

Alright, well I found the permissions thing out, and I've gone through to the EasyAntiCheat through the Registry Editor, and Im in that file. And I see this, http://gyazo.com/3fb72616adbee0a0d44a380a2f5636a0
Not exactly sure how to make that text file you wanted Elix, nor where to put it. I know this will sound stupid, but I made a text document like that and saved as all files and then it just saved as a text document again.
If I right click in the Reg editor it allows me to make a lot of new things ie: keys and then I see nothing about a text file.
I can't help people fix their Windows permissions. If your regedit is fucked, the Rust subforum is not the place for it.
The .reg file can be saved anywhere. Doesn't matter. Stick it on your desktop and then double-click.
I'd also like to remind everyone that I'm not a dev nor a mod. I'm a normal user just like you. I'm a Gold Member, but that's basically meaningless in this particular context. In other words, don't bother me expecting support, it's not my job.

I LOVE YOU, elixwhitetail!!!! I mean, thanks. That worked perfectly!!!
JakeTyler, go into Windows Explorer, options, turn off "hide extensions for registered file types".
Open notepad, paste the contents of the text block from my earlier post, and save the file as rustfix.reg and the file type as All Files (*.*).
If it gets given a text file icon, it's probably made itself be rustfix.reg.txt, so rename it and hack off the .txt extension. Windows will ask you if you want to change the extension, and you do. The icon should change to look like the icon for the Registry Editor.
You do NOT open the Registry Editor for this, except to take permission control of the registry if necessary.
This is important. The registry is the heart of Windows' data store, and if you fuck with it you can make Windows unbootable, and I'm not helping if you do.

Thank GGG, I just copied the contents for people who couldn't get to his Google Drive copy.
Alright, next stupid part.

And yes I know you aren't anything special on these forums. I've just seen you all over the place with helping people with this problem, and I figured you would help me out as well, and I thank you for that. I have it saved as the .reg now, and now it comes up with the error above.

Paste me EXACTLY what the contents of rustfix.reg are. (Right-click, open with, notepad)

OH I believe I see it now. Re=looked over it and see the space in the "Ch eat"
Well that wasn't in the actual file. So that just happened on the forums.
New one:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\EasyAntiCheat]
"GamesInstalled"="12;"
"ServiceVersion"=dword:00000004
Ok after redoing it again, the forum spaces it out on here for some reason on the cheat, but its not actually in the file.

You didn't copy exactly what I told you to copy.
You need to follow instructions exactly when dealing with the Registry or you might brick your computer. Do you understand?
Inferring that you copied it out with the title on top I didn't bother with it. Don't need to be so hostile about it.
On the other hand, thank you, I appreciate what you have done. I was completely confused.
By not following my instructions and thinking you know more than me, you're wasting my time and risking destroying your Windows install. Neither one of those is a goal of this thread.

Try the download button at the top of that page. It's right there.
So I did the registry fix and now my game crashes immidietely after I select the play speed, good, fastest, etc. Says "the game crashed, log file located at . . . .."
I can provide the log files if needed. Anyone know why this is happening now?
Paste the logs into pastebin and link them here, that'd help a lot towards finding an explanation.
Please also provide your system specs: CPU, RAM, video card, graphics driver version (xxx.xx for Nvidia, xx.xx for AMD, god help you if you're on Intel HD graphics).
Hey OP, my friend tells me that your registry fix works and now I am experiencing it. GOod job! I'm trying to download your file but Google tells me too many people have downloaded it and it's not available to be downloaded at this time. I thought I could sneak it by opening it with a Google App but it was smarter than I anticipated.
Can you rehost on paste.pm or a similar site?

Try updating your Nvidia drivers to 344.48.
OK so updated graphics driver to 344.48 and reinstalled RUST. Same shit, same error. :(

Huh. Make sure .NET Framework 4.5.2 is installed. If it is, repair it and restart. Also make sure you've done your Windows Updates.
I'm not an expert in reading dumps, so I don't know exactly what's breaking, just that it's breaking and your machine should be capable of physically running it (enough ram, etc.).
Sorry, you need to Log In to post a reply to this thread.
