So I'm drawing up a floor plan for my house, and so far for the ground floor I have something like this
________
|_|_|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|_|_|
5x5 foundations with the outside layer having 3 pillars, one on each open side and 1 in the middle
So the actual house part of the house will be 3x3, and all inside walls will be doorframes with metal doors (and obviously a front door)
Loot will be in middle room and spread out across multiple floors
I also plan on it being multi level so 1 less roof tile for this floor
By my calculations it'll cost me
25 foundation
68 pillars
12 walls
13 doorways
13 doors
1 stair
8 roofs
Second floor and on will be like this
_____
|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|
|_|_|_|
all outside walls are windows with metal bars and besides that same interior design.
12 window frames
12 windows
12 doors
1 stair
8 roof
Final floor will be -1 stair +1 roof
You are now a dick raider on my server. What weaknesses does my house have that you can exploit? Would it matter if I built by a mountain or in a plain? What weaknesses do you see here?
This design is good. Its not unraidable but one of the better deigns that just makes it more painful to do so.
Currently IMO there is three designs that make it very hard to raid
1.) Skybases/Suicide bases
2.) This design
3.) Door or trap design
Nothing is unraidable its just about making it so costly c4 wise so its not worth the raiders time to blow their way in.
The pyramid style is harder to raid but very easy to grief.

The weakness is that I still can see yor base. No matter how much c4 it takes, it'll go down if somebody wants it to.

Ya that's what I was going for, I was thinking to put shitty loot on bottom floors, that way they waste tons of c4 and go, "NOTHING BUT FUCKING RAW CHICKEN!" and give up.
Depending on how high you build it, the way I would blow into it is this:
I would build up the side of your base so I could blow in one of the side walls. Even tho your inner wall in the 5x5 will just be pillars so you can't build up inside the base, I would still be able to get on the roof. From the roof I would use 4-5 c4 to blow one of the side walls open and then just fall into the top floor. From there I would blow down metal doors working my way down the floors.
It would still cost some C4, but less then what it would cost to blow all the way up.

My bases now are just shacks I have hidden in mountains, but I figured it was only a matter of time before someone accidentally finds them. What would you suggest?

Yeah just split up your loot between multiple floors and your good. If anyone raids you just remember it probably wasn't worth their time resource wise as C4 is expensive to build :P Then repair and improve :)

God damn... See that's why I posted this here, I thought the pillars would keep my roof safe lol. How would you protect the roof?

The roof can't be destroyed, however if your crouch and aim your character correctly you can put a c4 on the corner of a wall under it. This takes many more c4 to blow the wall as you can't get to the sweet spot on the wall but its still faster then blowing through 10-15 doors :P
I can't remember if you can put wooden spikes down on the ceiling but if you can I would recommenced it, that way if they try to jump on it, its death. Or there was a youtube video recently where a guy found a way to put two wooden ramps on the floor below then put a wooden spike on top of those 2. This would force the spikes to just poke out the floor on the ceiling. He then covered the spikes with LOTS of sleeping bags :P as a trap until the game implements traps.
Just keep your loot in the mid tiers somewhere. the Top floor is cleshay and everyone looks there first :P

Thank you, I would have had all the good shit taken, without your input, from the first intelligent raider to see my house. Now I know, raw chicken on bottom and top floors
Also there is a good chance I would probably fall trying to get the damn c4 placed :P Yeah if your loot is on the 2nd last floor and spread out throughout the other floors working your way up, no one is getting all your loot unless they spent more resources making c4 to get it. In which case you still win anyhow :P and it was a raid just for the sake of raiding.

Another way to secure your base later on is put another foundation perimeter with a metal pillar in the middle around your base. People can't build wood on metal foundations, so if someone wants to raid your base they have to build metal stairs. However metal foundations can't be placed to close to wood ones, I forget how big the distance is but if the goal is to have the metal foundation block any wood ones from going around the exterior.
What would you suggest?
Find more quiet places and build only 1x1x1 buildings. Hide them well, between stones etc.
Place a foundaion in every crack you can and spread your loot all over the map, preferably in the mountains.
Mountains are always good. After a time you'll remember how everything looks and has to look like. You'll know ways and be able to lose every follower in the dense rocks or ambush them.
side note, is there a way to PM people on these forums?
