I think the M249 is more of a reward for destroying the chopper. And it's the only "Modern" weapon

The difference in speed a clan can gather the essentials, pickaxe, hatchet, ak, bolt, smg/tomson/semi, c4, launchers, walls, gates with the time it takes a single player to do this, is huge. It took me about 2 weeks to get an AK and I still have no Launcher, yet I've been grinding barrels for insane amounts of time (lost three launchers and two rockets though;) but that wouldn't have happened to a team either. But I think this whole suggestion that is made to shift the game more to the start/mid game, is outdated by the fact that skilllevels will already achieve this.
I think the game was fun before C4, when you actually had to have skill to raid.

While doing this you gather cloth to make a bow and kill the animals you see. A few animals gives enough to make a furnace. Build your 1x1 base and put the furnace in, start melting your ore and you soon have enough to make a sheet metal door with code lock and also a semi auto gun (of course you need the blueprint, if you are totally fresh on the server then you just blueprint-farm until you get something interesting, but it takes longer) within the hour. Armored door and you're established with a small hut that probably will last you until the next wipe if you have avoided the most busy areas. Takes little over an hour if you start in the right place and are effective. Of course Bolts and Thompsons are harder to get quickly and the blueprint are a requirement for the semi auto and better weapons.
when the came will be easy for every one, when all players just start with ak or bolt or anything powerfull. the game will be so boring, i even think on play it. i just play rust right now because is amazing. the need of get all bp's and play for hours alone in the wildness sneak around to not be in target of others players, because i know they will kill me, even i say "I DON'T HAVE NOTHING" bullet cost is really cheap, if not, well think about single players try to use ak or bolt... costing 300 gunpownder to make a bullet a fucking single bullet. All more easy to one guy, will be a lot more easy in group. so leave the game in the way are right now. When skills and xp come in game i will stop playing delete all files of rust from my pc and go away to another survival, because this game is based on no fucking idiot system who never really work and players just cry ask for to play for a week and after get all easy things who never really try to get in hard way, after test all of this go away for good. I right now have more than 500 hours of gameplay in Rust, and a lot of times i play solo for days before make some ally in neighborhood. after a while from the last wipe i changed from my playing server. Start from scratch play alone for days, getting resources stealling abandoned bases and growing, i play been killed for days, now i have all i need. if someone kill me when i am naked gattering resources all i say are, fuck need do new tools and start again. i don't get mad, i know when the killers are and avoid the location for a while

It took me an insane amount of time to actually get an AK. I did a trade with someone who built an AK for me after a week, but when I finally got enough BP frags to research, my 94% successful chance failed. Back to farming blue prints.....
Hate to throw the alpha comment in here but here we go, it's still in alpha. Its just the state of the game right now, I mean there are no zombies, your hunger/thirst don't deplete enough, radiation is gone etc etc. They can only do so much at one time, give it time and it will become a survival game again.
LETS BE HONEST!! The issue is not guns/explosives it really comes down to skills. I'm not a Pro at this game and I only have been playing for about 2 months. I noticed that roughly 70% of players [B][U]cant[/U][/B] shoot or hit crap, 20% of players are average, 5% are really good shots, and then 5% is just luck. With this in mind I have fought full geared guys with bolts with nothing but a bow and won, but on the same hand I have been dropped from 150+ meters by AK's before I could even react. So just because people have this gear does not mean they are effective/good enough to make them invisible. I will make friends with people around me and I go out with a bow and a waterpipe (0 BP's required) and most of the time it results in coming back with gear/resources, and the time's I don't win it's minimal cost so not a big loss.

He is right, I killed 3 guys last night with a bow. Full gear with a ak and bolts. Got first guy with a arrow in the face, He goes down. Lucky the dude with the ak sucked and shoots up hes friend when I pan left putting the last bolt guy between me and the ak47 dude. shooting arrows at sergeant AK. The other guy goes down thanks to friendly fire and put two arrows in the ak guy. It is to a point skill and smarts. use things to your advantage
I have really nothing about to complain about the gunplay besides the Boltaction youre able to kill anyone who is rendered there is like no bullet drop at all, i think it should have a bit drop at 100m+ + the bleeding is Crazy.
