My game crashes when I launch with these parameters. Any help
Does anyone else have the issue of the rocks not showing up while using any of the force-feature-level-9-X commands?
Hey guys, if you're having FPS trouble, you can always opt into the Developer branch of rust on steam (right click on rust->properties->betas->Dev) We have a fix in there that pretty much doubles my fps (especially with filtering disabled) The problem with the current live build is that it does no occlusion culling on any of the rocks, so its basically rendering an additional ~5 million triangles and whatnot. This has already been fixed and is available on the Dev branch. We'll probably make the patch live sometime this week but you can try it for now with that option. Be warned! opting into the developer branch may also result in you experiencing some unfinished mechanics or bugs
Do you know of any way to disable grass and shadows etc?:/
Do you know of any way to disable grass and shadows etc?:/
People have been disabling the grass (or at least most of it anyway) for quite some time by hitting F1 to open the console and typing in "grass.on false" without the quotation marks. It provides a nice little boost to fps. I dunno if there's a way to disable shadows though.

Thank you :)

We just made these changes Live so after you get a steam update you should experience the aforementioned performance improvements. Let me know if it runs any better for you guys here

Great post, switched to development branch logged in and I get 60+ FPS wherever I look, great job guys! I really didn't expect a fix... You bring great joy, I'll sleep better nwo that I knwo tomorrow I can finally play RUST!!! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE edit: updating the OP
Much better Helk thanks this patch made 3 of my friends from unplayable to playable %100 Awesome Patch
We just made these changes Live so after you get a steam update you should experience the aforementioned performance improvements. Not great, but I never expect much from my 6 yr old machine here. The fall damage might be a bit overdone though.
Great boost cause of the developers patch, get way more fps but it still seems a little choppy but maybe thats me.
much better fps, although my mouse movements seem kinda slow. Probably just my pc being bad >_< going to have to keep playing with upside down weapon until i upgrade :(
Fall damage is now enabled beware!! :)

I'm using a windows 7 OS with AMD A6-3420M with Radeon HD graphics My frames per second are still only 7-15. This is with the graphic options turned all the way down with grass.on false.
What is "Radeon HD Graphics" ? Which specific model
Under device manager, it says that my display adapter is an AMD Radeon HD 7690M, Also listed is AMD HD 6520G
Here with my laptop (i7 2.4, 8GbRam, GT630m), from 12-35 fps to 30-45fps here. Thanks for the fix.
What is "Radeon HD Graphics" ? Which specific model
He has a CPU/GPU in one, pretty much like a onboard graphics card pretty shit...
I ran into an interesting problem trying this last night. The fraps FPS overlay stopped working so I couldn't even see what my FPS was. I don't really know if i'm gaining any FPS from using these techniques (1 and 2 just crash the game anyway) but they cause too many glitches so I don't think i'll be using them in the future. I got that infinite range interactable object bug too which just makes it feel like a cheat. You can scout box spawns and hidden caches from a mountain top making it feel practically like hacking.
Yeah I do get that bug as well.
Thanks to the OP for the tweaks, performance has skyrocketed for me making the game very playable. However, I have to set AAx2 to fix the skybox bug, which is fine but the damn upside down weapons / items is nuts. If that one thing can be fixed it'll be perfect :(
-force-feature-level-9-3 -popupwindow -nolog improves the fps but i get so many bugs
Guys, I really hope you are trying the developer build it has almost 3x my FPS. The tweaks I posted when this thread was created are still working but you will be experiencing bugs like upside-down weapon or glitches in the sky. Please read the first paragraph, with the black background.

I've tried a variety of settings for it such as actor.cam 0, actor.cam -100 etc nothing seems to change it

They made the fall damage/rocks update live yesterday.
Back from the developer beta to the -force-feature-level-9-3 command. Fps is quiet the same but the gameplay is much better i feel to much lag delay with the developer beta version. Still have the glitchy sky but i'm getting used to it.
