After updating this morning, my dev branch server will not start. It stalls with no output at all, though RustDedicated.exe is running. Installing a fresh server did not help. This is on Server 2012 R2. hello facepunch studio and Rust community, I just got a big glitch/ bug or whatever... I was crafting 1500 gun powder to make c4 and than i went afk that dont have to wait... when i came back it was disconnected because i was inaktiv for about 10 mins, when i reconnected i saw that i only had 250 gun powder (thats understandable because when you are not at the server it doesnt continue crafting) so i looked into the crafting menü how much left and the counter went down so fast and i didnt got anything... so i closed rust and restarted but nothing was here? So i lost the 1250 gun Powder :/... But i still love Rust the game is amazing and sorry for my Englisch. I hope you will add weather soon that would be amazing :). King regards

"Couldn't load game manifest - verify your game content!"
Same crafting problem with losing mats as I posted earlier, only this time it was after I had typed "sleep" for a couple of seconds. I'm losing a lot of mats to this (1200 sulphur and charcoal with the first), I suppose I know to look out for it now at least. edit: sure you already spotted this one, but chat is broken (for Linux at least, don't know about windows). When I press enter it brings the mouse up but no chatbox.
I suggest a fps development. In devlog 59 I run rust with 20-30 fps, but in the last update (devlog 60) y can't run the game more than 7-10 fps. I think that the problem is in F2 options (shadows) because I can't put shadows lower that 100, and I think shadows and animations of trees low the fps of my computer (wooden computers.... :S) Thanks previously for your attention. Wooden computers must run rust too! :dance:

This is a balance concern regarding ladders. I messed around with ladders in the dev branch and think they might be a little OP. Could you make it so that players cannot place a ladder if they are currently on a ladder? You'd still be able to get up an elevator bases by breaking walls/columns at the top of ladders and standing there to place next ladder. I think most rocks have ledges reachable with these ladders already, but if not you could add a second bigger ladder.
Unrelated really, but I just loaded this thread on my phone using Opera Mini, and there is an advert inserted for Rust Experimental fly/wallhack. Text is English and Russian, why am I not surprised. I tried saving the picture but it just kept coming up greyed when I tried to view it individually. Probably something to do with my phone and the version of Opera Mini both being quite old. Sodding Russian hackers have found a way to get their hacks advertised on the facepunch forum! Top marks for targetted advertising, but this seems incredibly unethical on the part of Opera.
So, I've been playing a few days, so far... I have been attacked by a bear under my house, in the stone foundations, I'm guessing it spawned there. Animals can walk through walls and rocks. Noticed a strange reflection in the water whilst using the candle hat (Like moonlight on a lake) but very silly. Cannot use the bed - Bug or not finished? Issues using chat, I can type but <RETURN> does not work. Hope this helps a little..

Since yesterday the game runs much slower for me. I have much texture flickering, some trees appear like bombs exploding as a come near. I lost ca 20FPS with sometimes huge drops were the game hardly responds. Colors change like switching light on and off. Mouse feels slightly off in the game menu. The game became some what unplayable. I couldn't progress as i needed to. I'm afraid i lost my base over it :'). [editline]22nd May 2015[/editline] Ok i didn't lose my base pfew. After i logged i wasn't able to spawn on my sleepingbag couple of times. I don't know if this is normal. I'm fairly new to the game. It don't seem logic so it's probably bug? I changed server, then switched again to London, i did spawn on the sack. Also when i open console a see constant message rolling saying something like; "Attempt to create sounds from sound definition" Mostly with extention referring to footsteps. I only play the game a day or 3 but i can't remember seeying this before. The message keeps repeating itself endless. I'm still able to play and it runs fairly well with fps usually around 30, 40 atm. But i will take risk having huge fps drop at any given time, so it kinda limits gameplay for now.

It's red but it's that bright that you can't see it. You need lens dirt (bloom) on to see it.

There is something wrong with the LOD on one of the dead trees on the beach. When you get really close to it, the object gets really distorted. Also some kind of transparent background on the chat window, would make it possible to read the text while walking on snow.
I used to play at 30 FPS, since DEVLOG 59... my laptop dropped fps to 10. DEVLOG 60 allowed me to play at 20 fps, but not like before anymore: -Sometimes screen freezes when shooting a weapon. -Load times have increased significantly for me (dx9 and dx11 with both). -Sometimes game goes so bad as if it were loading something. -I have to click in the square just left to the item I want to interact with. Yesterday I found a pump action shotgun and rushed home with my booty to research it. I got to 0% and still no blueprint (In fact I kept going at 0% another 5 - 6 times yet still no blueprint) Is this a bug or deliberate?

I extensively used snap traps with GREAT success without the grass draw. The flower/weed patches in the clear areas and pathways provide great cover for snaps, as well do the bushes. In fact, using signs that draw the player's eyes from the ground work very well. If the concern is snap traps, then they could simply redraw the traps themselves to be less obvious, but to lag out lower end machines so less creative players can place their traps out in the open seems counter productive. Hell, as they do with the signs already, give the players the ability to paint their snap traps to match the placement area. But I cant see how a player would want to continue in a game where first he is getting a <10 FPS and then getting caught in a snap as well. At least make it an option for the server owner to have grass or not have grass across the board. Then see which servers are more popular. We are out testing this thing, and the focus should be what is going to draw players to Rust in the final release. But because the devs REALLY like the idea of grass, they are in denial that it places an obvious downgrade to performance on main stream to low end machines. Perhaps they are being enticed by some of the hardware manufacturers out there. As far as them testing the grass, I don't know what they are using for their test, but the performance on any machine is reduced slightly to significantly using their own in game FPS meter the moment that grass was switched from 0 to 1 or higher. This whole thing of "Well Facepunch says they tested it, and say NOPE, no degradation, so we have to ignore what we see with our own eyes" is BS. We ARE the test, if they choose to ignore us ... then what's the point.

I have logged into other servers since this message, and have tried this server several times, with reduced settings. yes i have a 64 bit OS, 8GB of ram, a decent NVIDIA GC..Is it a server issue or a client side issue?

The devs don't need to test whether players like grass or not, grass is going into the game and that's a confirmed design decision. This isn't a democratic process. And, this isn't a console port. If you have a [B]low-end[/B] machine and you want to run a [I]new[/I] (so new it's not even finished yet) game, you should consider upgrading your machine, since that's the fantastic thing about PC hardware. Besides, there's only so much they can do for the low low end, and minimum specs exist for a reason. If catering to shit-tier gaming boxes was an industry standard, everything would look like an untextured Quake. Implying there's some sort of conspiracy theory between garry's design decision to force grass on and pressure by OEMs to keep system requirements high to sell video cards or whatever just shows how out of touch you are. like are you for real, garry would piss in Nvidia's face if they came calling and trying to interfere with his design :v: If you can't play Rust at >10fps by the time performance issues are sorted, the problem is that your machine is too old and weak for the game, not grass.
Getting stuck on the done bit of the loading screen. Console spams some stuff about blur not being enabled on this platform. Tried with Windows and Linux, same behaviour on each. Try loading in DX9 or force it in launch options with "-force-d3d9"? Or, if you are, try DX11?

I would think the Linux version would be OpenGL so wouldn't have the DirectX issue. I did try it in Windows [i]and[/i] Linux and the behaviour was identical. [editline]27th May 2015[/editline] Oh and to add to that, I just watched London-dev drop from 10 players to 2. I'm guessing as people get the update it's locking them all out as well. Developer console is also saying "This custom render path shader needs to have at least 2 passes."
