Hey,
"it would be great if you'd send it to the developer of the game!"
The pink thing has also extended to the menu, not seen that before.

FYI: That was well known already: http://www.rustafied.com/ ;)
All seems fixed now, many thanks.
I can't connect to the server I'm currently playing on lately while being on the Dev branch, and I expcet many people have this problem: "wrong connection protocol"
Now, it seems the server is running an incompatible version. But are they really incompatible with the current Dev version, or might there be a fix allowing the players to join those servers while they're on Dev?
Will there be an update soon that forces the servers to update to using the new protocol? The next wipe maybe?
While in dev branch debug for the past few days on a couple different servers to have been unable to pick up loot from the ground. Thought it might be a problem with my client side but changed to op out of beta and everything is fine so it's definitely a problem on dev branch side.

Yes, I can confirm. It seemed to help holding 'e' (or what ever you map the action to) instead of just tapping it, so it might be down to a delay or timer problem
Hey garry, found a game breaking bug. Sent you a private message to avoid wipes.
Hey garry, found a game breaking bug. Sent you a private message to avoid wipes.
Care to elaborate?
Hey garry, i was trying to tell u in private but you dont respond.
The new crafting menu is bugged. Take 2k wood, put 1 wood by itelf next to them. Craft 4 small signs that each take 500 wood then cancel. Now you have 2k wood stack and 1 wood next to it. Now craft max signs (4). Then cancel. Now u have 4k wood and 1 wood next to it. Keep doing it for infinite resources.
Works for metal frags etc.
I'm sure you could make a server plugin that prevents grass from spawning or something.
The devs don't need to test whether players like grass or not, grass is going into the game and that's a confirmed design decision. This isn't a democratic process.
And, this isn't a console port. If you have a low-end machine and you want to run a new (so new it's not even finished yet) game, you should consider upgrading your machine, since that's the fantastic thing about PC hardware. Besides, there's only so much they can do for the low low end, and minimum specs exist for a reason. If catering to shit-tier gaming boxes was an industry standard, everything would look like an untextured Quake.
Implying there's some sort of conspiracy theory between garry's design decision to force grass on and pressure by OEMs to keep system requirements high to sell video cards or whatever just shows how out of touch you are. like are you for real, garry would piss in Nvidia's face if they came calling and trying to interfere with his design :v:
If you can't play Rust at >10fps by the time performance issues are sorted, the problem is that your machine is too old and weak for the game, not grass.
I don't care if they put grass in the game. But to say they tested it and that it has no impact on system performance is crap, it has impact on any machine. They need to refine their coding for it. But it is my opinion that they could add much more to the game for the same expense to system performance. As far as my "Implication" game companies such as Mr. Newman's Facepunch scratch the backs of hardware companies and vice versa, well I guess I need to defer to you judgment on that, as you appear to have first hand knowledge of the top management decisions of this company. Thank you for your insight on that and I stand corrected.
Needs attention immediately!
Bug allows resource duping!
Please see Martinoos Post above ^
I am having trouble connecting to the London Development server, loads up to receiving data then the game closes itself. All other servers load in fine but this is the one i play on.

Found this guy on top of a 9x9 all armoured building, on the London Dev server this morning.
Duper..
Now it makes sense to me why there were dudes running around rocketing all houses on the map yesterday, including my 1x2 shack..
How about adding a max stack size check to the anti cheat things also?
The bug where I cannot press return in chat needs to be fixed.
I cannot type any admin commands for my server, or other triggers for other servers, like /rules - /help - /kit
Note :
Chat worked after installation - But I don't use the keys 'WASD' so I redefined all the key layouts for where I play, this is when chat failed to recognise return after typing in the chat box.
I have re-installed, default keys dont go back to default so I'm stuck unable to test / add plugins for my server or type to anyone on any other server, it's becoming really annoying and frustrating.
Please fix this soon!
I am still unable to get on the london development server. i have re-installed the game and verified cache, i can enter all other servers but this one. when loading the console shows this before the game closes itself.

I don't think calling this a "cheat" is very fair. Its not like people are using hack programs to game the system. This was IN the system. The whole point in playing in a dev server is to test for bugs like this and report them as soon as possible. It would suck much more if this bug was on when the major patch on 4th hits.

This was a general comment rather, but related to this exploit of course. People running around with stacks larger than designed for, should be flagged, kicked, logged or whatever. I speculate there is mods for this already, but consistency checks should be a core server component. Could apply to player speed, players beeing below ground level coordinates, building stability (hoovering houses anyone..) etc.
I know nothing about unity but the Rust server is really single-threaded cpu-wise. Consistency checks could have its own thread with no performance inpact on the game on a multi CPU server.
When talking about the dupe exploit, its even less complicated then stated above. All you need is 2 stacks of the input item(s) and to cancel a "max build" job.
Lol.. you guys know that we are talking about the DEV server... which get wiped often and also it designed to be broken by some update (thats why its called "Dev branch") so ofc they will fix that problem for the main-game-channel but until then we need to deal with it.
And for the "kick-if-you-got-a-bigger-stack-than-allowed", great idea, so someone who accidentally found that exploit on the dev server gets constantly kicked, cuz there is a "exploited" stack in his inventory.....

totally agree mate.
[editline]30th May 2015[/editline]
right, now another related bug to the dupe bug.
When i go in the game i instantly crash the game. I think this has to do with the stacks of wood near a player. To fix this i think we either need another wipe since the dupe bug is fixed but all the resources are still in game. Not 100% what it is but if i re spawn or go near a player that has the dupe resources i crash. Multiple people report this and the behavior is consistent.
Aaaaand.. already fixed by garry https://twitter.com/RustUpdates/status/604737460246065152

Still present on London-dev. At least it is for wood, I just tried it and it worked fine. Hopefully this just means the update hasn't been pushed yet.
edit: Yep, works for everything.
-bad reading-
i think commits are on the debug server atm. Just speculating atm but no changes to the actual dev server as i believe its alrdy fucked up and will need a wipe before thurs anyway

can u explain how the bug works please?

You need to do an invocation involving a live chicken. If you can't get a live chicken, an egg will do. But the egg has to be really fresh.

so that's where i was going wrong. i was using frozen chickens. thanks withnail!!
the dup problem has not been patched unless it happened less 4hrs ago. i will teach you all how it works so gets patched sooner since i miss playing in my fav server. lets say you are using wood to craft something, separate the wood into 3 or more stacks and craft , then cancel craft, again separate the wood into 3 or more stacks and keep repeating. if all slots have items in them your wood will stack in stacks of up to 799999. if you are crafting an item which uses metal frags, wood and cloth, you can just dup the item the you want but if you want to dup every item break them into 3 or more stack again. have fun and i hope we get a fix by tomorrow and also a wipe, some players are just such trolls. "note" you don't need a full stack of an item to dup, some people were saying that; but you just need enough to craft one or more item with it.
Although you can no longer dupe items, you can use cancelling crafting to overload item slots still. So you can end up with 900000 wood in one inventory slot etc.
edit:fixed in the last patch, cheers.
